Question Possibility of Installing Mechanical Fuel Pump in Alto VXR

    Dear All,
this is 3rd time that my Electronic Fuel pump becomes faulty (This time it takes only 6-months)

I am not in a mode to spend Rs: 4000+labor charges to install the Original Mitsubishi make Fuel Pump or Chinese available in Rs: 1400+labor.

however upon visit to my mechanic, he recommends me to install the mechanical fuel pump, then he shows me the location (just below the distributor) where the fuel pump can be installed.

Suggestion and recommendation are requested from the experts.

    Thanks
    SJA

    Change your mechanic.

Get a good used pump from your used car market yourself.
Buy it with atleast 5 to 6 days guarantee that if it doesn't perform good it can be replaced.

Make sure the pump sits in the bracket nicely and doesn't vibrate or shake itself when working. Make sure you have fuel atleast to the level of the pump at all times.

    @Syncview

Both the times i got the Original Mitsubhi make Fuel pump (cost me 3800 in 2009 and 4000 in 2010).
All the times tank was filled with atleast 6-8litres of petrol.

secondaly the pump was not becomes faulty in 5-6days it runs atleast 6months both the times.

can you give me 1 good reason why not install mechanical fuel pump? as lot of cars have mechanical fuel pumps, (like khyber)....

mitsubishi pump cost me 1900... front mount... hasnt stopped working as yet.. been quite a long time.. car is charade..

mechanical fuel pumps have a tendency to fail.. if the car is not run on petrol for long time then the diaphragm becomes dry and tears causing pump failure.. hence electric pump is more suitable..

used pumps in shershah cost 600 to 1200rs..
the problem is not our govt... its the people..

Alto VXR came with electronic fuel pump or mechanical?
I bought Mitsubishi Electronic fuel pump for my Khyber a year ago. I bought it for 2000 Rs from Waseem Autos Rawalpindi. The pump is working fine till now. I also installed a relay with that pump costing me 300 Rs (Relay price + electrician labour).

i am sorry to hear your story dude but this fuel pump is a kinda complicated and purely your luck thingi , i had so much problems searching mine for my cultus and in the end i just given up on that and installed a chinese one that cost me about 900 rupees , havent said that i had tried a geniuene cultus fuel pump to start with that costed me 4600 alone and it lasted for 2 months , i had checked all the wirings and every thing after that i installed a mistibushi one that costed me 1800 rupees and that lasted for 6 months and surprisingly i was running my car on petrol after that i had a long chat with my mechanic and he said sir ap ko bar bar tank utarna parega and u keep changing the fuel pumps and it would be purely your luck so u better installed a electrical outside fuel pump and since than its been running okie mashallah i dont know when its gonna give up but atleast i had a peace of mind that i dont have to go for all the troubles i used to had taken the tank out and all that i am just gonna go buy a new chinese one and give 100 rupees to auto electrician and here i go bang again so i would recommend u to go for the outside fuel pump rest is your choice .
    regards.

Mechanical pumps are more prone to failure when the car runs mostly on CNG.

Your problem is elsewhere, not with the pumps IF the pumps you got are original. These pumps run within manufacturer requirements for a good four years ATLEAST. Get a pump from another car if you wish. Make sure the inside filter is properly attached to the pump. If the pump is working without a filter, it will go bad in a few months.
