Thread: Alto VXR 2007 hard gear

    Default Alto VXR 2007 hard gear

    When i shift from 1st to second its smoothly done, but from 2 to 1 its a bit hard and sometimes requires double attempt... also there is a humming sound from below the gear box... any advice will be appreciate

    replace gear oil for the humming bit - but at what speed are you trying to shift into first?

    get the gear oil changed,nd there might be a play in the bottom of stick,if yes then get that fixed too,its hardly a 500rs job.

    Gearing is bit hard in Alto ( 1st and 2nd)

    ^^^^not that much tht gear stucks at shiftng bk frm 2nd to 1st but yeah coure's nd alto's gear stick is bit harder.

    The gear lever play is mostly due to worn out gear lever bushes.

    @OP Shifting to 1st gear at speeds greater than 20~30km/h results in a jerk and it might damage your engine mounts/foundations.

    even if i shift under 5 it stuck a bit, i thinks this is because of the play, is there anyway i can get a smooth shift as in Vitz?

    i have been using alto since 3 years now... no issues with the gear uptill now its shifts smooth like creams but yeah when the milage of my car was 5000 the people there are 3s changed my gear oil and i was like howcome u have to change gear oil this soon because at that time car was brand new but thanks to ALLAH TALAH have no issues with shifting while i hear alot of people say its hard or stick too
    so i simply suggest to change your gear oil all will be fine

    id bet u r using zic gear oil. it is too thin. i also made this mistake due to dealer advice. get total gear oil i think there is an oil additive called mos2 that will make gears even more smooth

    Car Alto PKDM 1000cc 40k driven 2011

    Hello, Salam,

    I have been facing an issue from past 2 months,

    Hard gear.

    1st gear is very hard when you put it in from N or 2nd gear.


    have changed gear oil ZIC FF 75W85 and added little tube of Anti Friction Liqui Moly.

    still the 1st gear is hard and rest of the gears are very minor hard too.


    When the car is switched off, the gears are absolutely smooth and have no issue, but when car is switched on the gear gets really hard.

    reverse gear is really smooth in any scenario.

    What has been done so far:
    Gear Oil changed, Clutch cable adjusted numerous times. Bushes below the gear lever under the car changed but still nothing looks to be resolved.



    I have been to around 3 mechanics and every mechanic seem to inject his on experience and science and tellme a new issue.


    my car is only 40k driver, yesterday another mechanic said that its the Pressure plate and Clutch plate. new set of them will solve this issue as when clutch is getting weaker it problems the 1st gear in the first stage.


    Now before i spend hell lot of money to get clutch and pressure plate replace i want your opinion can you please tell me any other way to diagnose the weak clutch and pressure plate?

    just want to make sure it REALLY IS THE CLUTCH PLATE AND PRESSURE PLATE before i take it to a mechanic and he opens my car
