Default CVT shift stick from P to R moves hard and with jerk

When moving cvt shift stick from P to R it gives a jerk and requires force. It was working very smooth initially.

    I have observed:
this problem started after the decrease in fuel prices and my car started knocking.

this occurs usually in the morning or when engine is cold, if i allow the engine to heat up first then the jerk becomes minor.

if i use hi-octane with regular petrol then the shift jerk is minor.

if the car is over an inclined road then the shift jerk is major.

if i allow the engine to heat up first and fuel is mixture of hioctane and regular petrol then the shifting is comparatively smooth.

its alto eco 2012, cvt is jatco cvt7. Please advise.

try to engage handbrake first and then put your car in parking .p. while stoping and similarly move to .d. drive then disengage hand brake

No need to worry. Just pull the hand brake before changing to parking gear (P) , i mean stop the car pull hand brake and then gear to P ... And release it after you put it in reverse (R) or drive (D) for moving

Default Just push the brake harder while shifting.

This has nothing to do with your fuel. This happens due to the increased rpm on cold starts which is normal. Or else wait for two minutes for the RPM to come down and then shift with the brake pressed hard.

yes you are right when i wait for two minutes, the jerk and force to move shift is minor but not smooth as originally it was.

Bhai you will damage your transmission
Best way to make it smooth is check is your handbrake is working
Then when ever parking , pull the handbrake and release the brake , car will go a bit back and then put it into parking gear.
And when you want to move press brake , shift gear and then release handbrake
    Problem solved

I too have a jdm Alto and have recently faced the same issue which u have mentioned and here is the reason
When the Car is in a inclined surface the P has a lock which prevents the car from moving and when the hand brake is dis engaged the lock is under more pressure hence the the shifter turns hard
Similarly when the car is on a leveled position but the hand brake is still dis engaged when u get in and out of your car it gets pressure to move making the shifter hard again
The Best solution to this problem is that after stopping pull the handbrake and move the shifter to P and similar when moving put the car on D first and then dis-engage the hand brake

I got the point, while parking i was pulling the handbrake after shifting to P and while starting releasing the hand brake before shifting to D. Today i did as per your advise and it worked very well. Thank you all the experts.

Here is how to park an automatic transmission, specially on inclined surfaces:

-Maneuver the car to the desired spot

-From R or D (whichever is being used), shift to lever position N.

-Engage the parking brake and release the depressed brake pedal.

-Make sure the parking brake has hold of the parked car now and the car isn't creeping.

-Depress the brake pedal and move shifter to position P swiftly.

    Done.

For elecrrician you can try going to g8.The elecrrician there do jdms everyday and it should be an easy fix. As far as oil change is concerned we have our own mechanic. You can use Suzuki CVTF if available else Toyota or Liqui Moly etc.

Thanks for the advice bro , well the lock turned out to be a lose grip fixed free of cost , today i changed the gear oil with Toyota CVTF in sliver can of 4l (Rs,4500) , the mech drained the oil and and also open the chamber for extra drainage and checking the filter it was ok so cleaned it and replaced the o ring on top , my dip stick only had two small turned cuts which i assume are for low and high indicaters what should be the ideal mark for gear oil in this model ? also is there specific way to check if the gear box is realy cvtf >?my Alto is top of line and has 4x4 but no eco idle as its 2010. Also please note that my gear box does not have a over drive button , but just shift lock and a sport button on the gear lever which when pressed shows an s icon on speedo mere display , (no idea how much diff it makes in 660 cc car )
