It is not a MYTH. It is the same engine in Alto & Potohar. Except different Gearboxes. Other than the Gearboxes, everything is the same in Alto & Potohar Engines.

    @ Robin is rite.

The engine is just there to make the car move. Cultus has a 1 litre engine too which is 3 Cylinder while Alto's engine is 4 Cylinder. And Cultus weighs more.

But I have yet to see a Alto beat a Cultus in a race. This is because the engine has very $hittily designed gear ratio's. And the engine code for Alto and Potohar is F10A and nowhere on the internet would you find a site which tells you that the F10A Carb engine came with a 5SPeed Tranny. Which means that either Suzuki Pakistan made the transmission themselves (highly unlikely) or retrofitted it from some other car.

we have alto for our home use ,means for skoool and other works ,used by our driver,,,,so its a gud driver car i think coz its spare parts are damn cheap ,its a maintainance free car....we own khyber before alto,,so alto comparing to khyber is very slow in pick...
but its a fine car for driving in khi,,,yet it have those traditional noisy problems of suzuki...
