@Elien, I took along a 4 liters pack as my understanding was that the required oil quantity was 3.5 liters. However, the mechanic said 3 liters were required.
I have the remaining oil with me and I should check the dipstick to see the level. He used 3 liters of engine oil and 2.5 liters of gear oil.

Default first oil change information and some basic questions

    Salam to all Alto Owners.

I have driven my new alto 2012 up till 700 kms on petrol. I need to ask a few basic questions.

    1) When to change the first oil, as the dealer is saying to change the 1st oil at 5k whereas my cousin is saying to change it at 1k bc of initial wear and tear.

    2) Can I now switch to CNG as I have driven it 750 kms approximately.

    3) Do I really need to go for wheel alignment of the car at this stage.

Eline, thank you very much for the prompt reply. I agree with you on all the answers, but dont know why most of the guys say to change oil at 1k. They say that it is necessary to change the 1st oil early to remove the steel deposits shaved off during initial piston/rings contact.
Your answers have satisfied me a lot, but still If i could not get peace of mind may be I will go for the oil change at 3k. Yesterday I already switched to CNG at 730 approx., and am not going for the alignment too.

    Please can you further elaborate:

    1) Which oil is being poured in alto when it left the factory.
    2) its radiator has green color coolant in it. Which one is that.

First of all ask who ever says that the steel deposits will came in to oil ?? ask them to give REASONABLE LOGICAL ANSWER!

Let me help you to understand why it is said by dealers when buying the car to drive slow for 5000 KMs in order to give pistons and give tappets time to adjust because in pakistan tappets and piston nuts are not adjusted to professionaly like outside countries for e.g tighten the spark plugs applying 3/4 N torque blah blah so hope you will understand the requirement

How metals adjust ? when car runs they get heat up they are expanded and when engine gets cooled the metals contract and there fore the take over the shape of neighbouring metals ... Tell your friends Paksuzuki never make the pistons and rings in their factory in the engine of alto or other they are imported from japan then they are assembled in Pak..

    1) Sir its your choice which oil you want to pour in it ...

    2) immediately change your your coolant to better and reliable brand CALTEX EXTENDED LIIFE and get relaxed for two years (make sure you read the back and consider the requirement what ratio of water and collant is need ..) make sure you buy 2 litres of de-ionized water as tap water contains minerals and other chemical contents can rust your radiator..

Thanks Elien for the detailed answer. I went to FSD on alto few days back. Its ODO is now around 1500. I understand your point. I also understand that there is oil filter that do its work so no worries.
I did not thrash the engine at all, but the top speed was maintained at 100kms. Quite a number of times I also touched 120. Hopefully the pistons ring contact now must be fine . I did not want to take it to on such a long journey but I had to because of some important work.

Regarding your point no. 2 I am working on it. Dont know whether to use CALTEX Extended LIfe or just pour only LIqui moly coolant withour any water.

Dude u can drive long but make sure u do not give the full throttle to it 120 is enough to take it on highway.... but if u keep it between this speed u can get better mileage..

    Dear bilalafzaldogar

I am using Alto VXR since 2006. I tried CALTEX havoline and using that oil my car sounds like a sports with much engine noise

then I shifted to TOTAL quartz 3000 and now its better.

For wheel alignment--- sure go for it and try to change tyres too as original one does not have enough grip.
