Although its said that the jeeps take us to Tatto village, but in reality they just drop us at the end of the road, at the opposite side of the river. The village is a little downhill. We have to cross a small stream to get to a hotel like place where one can get food and stay for the night if required.
The jeep drivers (not all of them are locals) are very fussy if one tries to take their own vehicle. Don't know what their reaction would be for motorbikes. There were a couple of ascents that may require a little push to the bike, but you can make it. But in 2006, there was no place to park vehicles at the end of the road. Nobody was living on that side of the river. The jeeps were not parked there, they returned to Raikot Bridge and came back again to pick you up. In 2008, I saw a board about the construction of the road till Tatto village, I don't know about the current situation.
Bikers should definitely go via Babusar pass.
Everything is available at fairy meadows. The food is a little expensive, but it is expected, because everything is carried by people on foot. In 2006, Daal Roti for 5 of us was for 500 rupees and Chicken Karahi for 800 rupees, so we had Chicken Karahi.
It takes about 3 hours to get to Fairy Meadows, but it is quite tiring for first timers, better start early so that you have time to recover. Don't start the hike immediately after taking food. Do not carry anything that is not absolutely required(a jacket is required), water/drink is essential.
