To make you feel a little better, I returned from GB on 18th of May with my family and a 4 months old kid.
I was traveling from Karachi in my car and I was the only driver so, it took us 6 days to reach Hunza. Some people are able to do this in 5 as well. I think 8 days will not be enough to cover all places.
Road condition is bearable till Dasu. After Dasu, roads have so many pits that you couldn't drive more than 20kmph. Although its just 40kms from Dasu to Shatiyal where road is in very bad shape, you will be covering these 40kms in more than 4 hours. Take plenty of water with you between this journey and refill chilled water from Summer naala.
Shatiyal to Chilas is around 1 hour and road is bearable.
Road from Chilas to Raikot bridge is in bad shape at some points and will take around 1 hour.
Don't try to drive too fast on this road or else you will hurt your car.
- You can visit Rakaposhi viewpoint, Karimabad Bazaar, Baltit fort, Duikar/Eagle's nest (road to this place is very steep with sharp turns.. take a cab there if possible.), Altit fort, Attabad lake, Passu cones, Borith lake (its a dirt track, not sure if you could make it in your car), Khunjerab top, Diran guest house (must visit).
