bro, I willl advise you to buy from Pindi tyre bazar in Saddar,,than Islamabad cause you will find good quality in less price
tyres are a safety Issue so dont go for non famous names, only use 1 of the following brands priority wise, they may save your life some day.. The best brands in prority order, as far as i ve checked, are

    1. Michellin
    2. Bridge stone
    3. Yokohamma
    4. Dunlop

The other thing is that you should study the Speed ratings and load ratings, for example if i find a better speed and load rating Dunlop then i should prefer it over Michillin or Bridgestone... try to take the speed and load rating chart printed on a paper when you go to a shop. cause 1 simply forgets that what does V or S means.. Also try to get a fresher tyre than an old stock..

Sahee tyre leney kai leeye yeh calculation karnee partee hai, Dimagh kee lassi banani partee hai.. Dont even depend on Tyre dealer that he will automatically recommend you the best tyre

i used corteco seals for axle seals available for under RS 200 both axles.
NKN boots for axle costed Rs 350 each.
Got the gear box opened from mechanic as it was leaking and 5th gear wasn't engaging. he replaced all the seals of gear box and 5th gear, took masdori around rs 2500

everything went well around 6 months then again it started leaking (gear shifter seal i.e) so left it as it is. MKT aka murgi ki tang.
So if you are opening up your gear box use a very high quality silicon for the job

Silicon isn't necessary but mechanics sometimes scratch the seal bore when replacing seals. It is better to apply a very thin layer of high temp silicon when putting the new seal.

    @onlyfaith... Thanks a lot man....
That certainly helped a lot. I am gonna go for stock size which I am assuming is R14 for Baleno JXR from what I could find on the net. Other than that, the thing with the speed and load rating helped a lot. I ain't planning to floor the pedal on my car (the old gal can only do so much as 120). Load rating would still count.
Could I get an example of what I am gonna face over there like any model of tyre so I dont act shocked over there and make a fool of myself in front of the dealer?
I keep on reading something like 185/65 R14 this figure which i have researched. Is this the stock size for Baleno?

Check driver side area where there is a sticker with the recommended tire size. And dont waste ur money on expensive tires.u r not driving a formula 1. Buy eurostar from there 16k 4 tires... excellent for baleno. Tried and tested myself...

The stock size for Baleno is 165/65/R14.

I had used 185/65R14 Dunlop in my Baleno for 3 years and in my experience it is the best balance for good road grip, fuel average, comfort and load on suspension.

they will keep ur old meter and replace with this one. mostly they have japanies items which have 180 as speed limit on them, so while selling your car you can tell the buyer very confidently that you have a japanies model (jk )

my baleno ('99 1300cc) has this humming sound which is felt more when you'tr sitting in the rear seat. i have replaced the front bearings AND the rear hubs but the sound's still there. the mechanic says it's coming from the tires . any hints/clues/suggestions?

i mean, it's best if a good mechanic sits in the car and checks what it can be. but i need some help from you guys, because i went to two different mechanics, one got the front bearings changed (5 hours and quite a few thousand rupees gone down the drain) and the other changed the rear ones.

If you hear this sound when engine is idling and car in stop position, then it could be from fuel pump.

Na boss, you know wheels related sounds are always tested on the road with an idle engine. i mean i speed up and then put the car in neutral (ideally on a neat road with a slope, there are plenty in islamabad...) and then listen to this ghoon ghoon. thanks for your quick reply anyway, boss.

it's frustrating because i believe there's no other rotating part in the rear axle other than the hubs, and i've changed those. so what else could it be?!?!?! may be it's a 4WD :p
