Arrow Brakes of Baleno 1.6 GTi

I purchased a 1.6 Gti. Everything else is fine but the brake pedal is very soft. I got the Brake pads and shoes replaced. Master cylinder replaced as well.Got the brakes bled too. The brakes get engaged after more than half of the pedal is pressed but the grip is perfectly fine once brakes are engaged. The Mechanic says that the car has SERVA brakes thats why pedal will always be soft. And if he tightens it than the tyres will get a bit jammed.

Kindly let me know if what the mechanic says is true and if not, then what can be possible problem and its solution. Would highly appreciate the help!!!!!!

seems like the problem is not yet solved...

the pedal must be soft but should not touch the floor to apply full brakes.

    What Is SERVA Brakes :\

If He Mean Vacuum Operated Brake Booster Or SERVO System Then Almost Every Car Have It...!!

Pedal Should Be Soft But Brakes Should Be Engaged Strong Enough When Its Half Way Pressed..

Brake pedal is supposed to be soft in servo brakes.

    Change the brake oil.

If the pedal goes way down the brakes needs to be adjusted but as you say that you changed the brake shoes that should have been done by the mechanic.

Yeah my Civic 2005 which is almost brand new has a soft pedal as well, although I don't have to push it all the way, brakes are firm and engage accordingly.

serva or servo, its hard to understand what the mechanics say! it gets engaged fine but after half the pedal is pressed. for first half, pedal has totally free movement.

Hmm khyber has a firm pedal, dont know about corolla, sometimes people feel this difference if they switch cars. But do take it to Suzuki for an inspection, dont take it to any local mechanics.

u cant compare Baleno 1.3 brakes with that of 1.6

1.6 has ventilated discs while 1.3 doesnt...

hell lot of difference between grip and stopping distances of both

I was facing all kinds of issues with brakes of my baleno 2003.

After arguing with my mechanic I changed the brake oil and braking is very good now (got Sekan brake oil). mechanics are usually against changing brake oil.

Now even my 5000km done local brake pads are giving me good performance.
