    Default Baleno 2004

Well Baleno is now an old car with old looks. It cant compete with Honda City, so Suzuki is going to have a model change and here it is.As esteem (US name for baleno) is now discontinued so the sedan version of the aerio(known as LIANA in indonesia)(2.3L sports car in US) is gonna replace it.

We also got Liana in australia but its a big time flop so suzuki put in a sports model i.e same care with make over ( aftermarket bumpers , seats , side skirts etc) still car wont do any good specailly because the ride level is too high and the car body is more higher than wider i.e. eventually giving it much less grip than balenoo.

    http://www.suzuki.com.au/LianaGS.asp

but still it will do good in pakistan due to Suzuki,Toyota,Honda monopoly.

In case u havent noticed tht AERIO has been the best buy for straight 3 years in USA in most automotive review magzines it has been compared to Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Mazda Protegé, Mitsubishi Lancer, Saturn Ion and the Toyota Corolla.
And has been declared the winner.
in terms of road grip I think tht it is a winner with 152.-ft.of torque and it has been tested for speeds of 220+ KM/h and has passed crash test with 5 out of 5 stars and it will have no trouble at all with G13B, G15BA or G16BB engines.
And its downforce ratings, and drag values are better than many sports cars.
So it has one of the best road grip in the saloon sedan class.

Aerio wins "AAA Auto Guide Award" for 2003
The Aerio 2.0L model (U.S. Spec.) has recently received top rating in the under $15,000 category* from AAA (American Automobile Association) Auto Award for 2003.
For the past 11 years, AAA has tested more than 200 vehicles annually, and they rate each vehicle in 20 categories, covering passenger environment, over-the-road performance, workmanship and value that rank highest in several categories and price ranges for the AAA Auto Guide.

Other passenger vehicles that have won this award are as follows:
    Mercedes Benz S-Class (over $50,000)
    Jaguar S-Type ($40,000-$50,000)
    BMW 5-Series ($35,000-$40,000)
    Lexus ES300 ($30,000-$35,000)
    Infinity G35 ($25,000-$30,000)
    Buick LeSabre ($20,000-$25,000)
    Honda Accord ($15,000-$20,000)
    Mini Cooper (Cool Car)

According to AAA Auto Guide article, the Aerio is evaluated its roomy interior, good visibility and excellent maneuverability.

More than 200 vehicles were evaluated for “AAA Auto Guide: 2003 New Cars and Trucks,” and the top vehicle in each category took the award. Twelve categories are based on vehicle cost and type, while one, the Cool Car category, is based on unique characteristics. Winning 2003 models are:

    Mini Cooper (Cool Car)
    Suzuki Aerio (under $15,000)
    Honda Accord ($15,000-$20,000)
    Buick LeSabre ($20,000-$25,000)
    Infiniti G35 ($25,000-$30,000)
    Lexus ES 300 ($30,000-$35,000)
    BMW 5-Series ($35,000-$40,000)
    Jaguar S-Type ($40,000-$50,000)
    Mercedes-Benz S-Class (over $50,000)
    Honda Odyssey (Minivan)
    Dodge Ram (Truck)
    Lincoln Navigator (SUV over $30,000)
    Toyota Highlander (SUV under $30,000)

THE POINT TO BE NOTED HERE IS THAT UNDER 15000$ class includes HONDA CIVIC ,TOYOTA COROLLA ,MMC LANCER AND MANY OTHER CARS IN WHICH AERIO HAS WON.

Also AERIO is named Aerio because of its remarkable aerodynamics and downforce.

mate! i have no idea about US car market but what i know is suzuki's build quality is by far lower than Honda and toyota.

In Australia, where we have the most toughest laws in the world regarding road and saftey, suzuki is really struggling.

Not sure about suzuki's up coming cars but liana is really no good even vitara is strugling also

i will tell you were they stand

    Suzuki Baleno 95-00 Average
Suzuki Hatch 82-85 Significantly worse than average

Suzuki Swift 85-88 Significantly worse than average

Suzuki Swift 89-99 Worse than average

    http://motoring.racv.com.au/racvm/whichcar/UCSRArticle.cfm?ID=5C55E28E-61F1-4B50-99C019B05DAEDB89

after these test results no one even includes suzuki in their test in australia, its pretty much buy at your own risk.

but then in America it might be different

ARLINGTON, Virginia (CNN) -- Small sport utility vehicles (SUVs), which didn't do well in low-speed crash tests a few months ago, were equally disappointing in new tests where the crash speed was increased.

The 1999 Subaru Forester was the only small SUV tested in a 40 mph "frontal offset" crash that earned an overall rating of "good" from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Four vehicles were rated "acceptable": Jeep Wrangler (1997-99 models); Suzuki Grand Vitara (1999); Suzuki Vitara (1999 models); and Chevrolet Tracker (1999 models).

Four vehicles were rated "marginal": Kia Sportage (1998-99 models); Honda CR-V (1997-99 models); Jeep Cherokee (1997-1999 models); and Toyota RAV4 (1996-99 models).

The worst performer was the Isuzu Amigo (1998-99 models). It was the only small SUV tested to receive a "poor" rating in the frontal offset crash test.

The Amigo is built on a truck body while the Forester, which is smaller, is on a car frame.

this is the report from CNN

Also in australia all the cars are below the standards of USA like engines. VITARA XL7 has just won the safest and best off roader award in Newzealand, its only 2.7L and has got better speed and accelaration than Land Cruiser 4.7L

hi azeeshan , totally agree mate.

over here in australia ppl are really fussy about safety regulations and stuff, even all vehcles are fitted with speed limiters i.e. only up to 200km/h max, and it for every single car. Seat belts are must.

we just got 2003 top selling car companies in australia, suzuki is not even in first 10. where as toyota, honda , mitsubishi, nissan, mazda are all in first 10.

So if suzuki is really makinf that fantactic cars why are they not selling any ???

I aint from australia or USA but lemme tell u im from pakistan here there are lots of taxes on cars u get a 1.6L Civic with only 1 airbag for more than 22000$ so here in pakistan suzuki rules & its the same case in india so suzuki sells more than 50% of the total cars in Pakistan. Here Suzuki rules for its durability & price

Well aerio will be a great success in pakistan if it is launched because suzuki goes for fuel efficiency much better than the other sedans in the market. But one thing I can never accept that suzuki can ever come at par with corolla, honda and mitsubishi.

waqas, suzuki in pakistan only sells because of the monopoly of Suzuki/toyota/honda. if govt let other car companies do trade here you will see no one will by suzuki any more. We buy suzuki because we have to as its the cheapest even at half a million ruppes.

In india it sells because of its prices which are way lower than pakistani prices and also there is very healthy compition in india among car manufacturers.

Now durability and safety, yeah for sure.

Call pak suzuki and ask them to show you their crash test reports i.e. if they ever conducted one. and what is the rate of rattling noises in suzuki.
