    Default Assistance Req. Problem with my Baleno(Tires/Rims)

    Dear all,

    Hi guys i just had wanted to have some professional assistance from ur side on this issue... I have a Suzuki Baleno Model 2002, fitted with 13" and dunlop tyres, bought almost a year ago.
    From few months i have noticed that the car gives a bit of jerks and slight jump while driving on the initial gears and on slow speeds on clean and smooth roads.It gives kind of a small "jhatkas" to ur whole body. Its seems like u are driving on uneven road but the car is moving on an even and smooth road and i have tested it on various roads in lahore but the problem presists.
    I also visited a wheel balancing and alignement guy, he told me that there is no such problem of balancing and alignement problem as its symptoms are different. However the problem he diagnosed was that, there is some problems with my front tyres and the alloy rims are fine and the tyres need to be replaced and according to him its the ultimate remedy to this problem.
    So on receipt of this advice, i visited the workshop where my cars usually go for work and maintenance. The cheif mechanic there lifted the front end of my car using a jack and told me to start the car,put it in fourth gear and start accelerating slowly. so i did that and then he came up with and he came up with another solution and said that, the problem lies with the alloy rims and advised me to put back the stock steel rims and the problem will vanish.
    So i am a bit confused now and require some assistance from ur part, that what should be line of action for me and what should i do, Should i go for tyre replacement or the rims?....
    I also had an idea that why not i should alter their position, this means that bring the rear set of tyres and rims to the front,...... What do u think will it work......
    So i am in a contant state of stress and confusion as to do what........
    So all the pros out there, HELP me out on this one so that i can ultimately find a solution of this problem and take actions accordingly......

    Please HELP me with this one............

    Your

    THANKS

    Regards

    @Mirza Taimoor Baig,

    Are you sure about the small "jhatkas" on even road?? or is it more like bouncing from the hood/bonnet area. If the car is bouncing from the front then its definitely your front shocks. Car bounces when the front or rear shocks stop working and car's weight goes on springs and it pulsates like sign waves.

    @ FM01

    First of all thanks for replying. I have checked the shocks they are fine and works absolutely well. I mean jhatka in a sense that the car seems to move in a way that u feel some kind of a bounce coming from under the tyres not the hood....it seems like some kind of a thing is beneath ur tyres and it gives a slight jump to ur body. It not like that the car gives pulses of sum sort, its a kind of a vibration the car gives to ur body. Even if u leave the accelerator pedal for a while at a speed of 20-30 in 2nd gear but the problem remains the same.
    one interesting thing is that the problem vanishes at higher speed like exceeding 60......
    The mechanic told me that it is because ur tyres are moving "teray".......so if u want take the full pleasures of this ride swap it with the stock steel rims.

    The only solution so far is to swap the rear set with front and then observe.This will surely helps a lot to identifying the problem.

    @ Taimoor

    It looks the balancing problem, car slightly jumps when there is heavy spot on the tyre. When the heavy spot contacts the road then you feel slight jump. Its also called static imbalance or vertical vibration. Due to this you can feel the vibration or slight jump even on the smooth road. Since the problem started two months ago, your tyres might be badly warped by now and even balancing will not work on it now. Do you still have warranty on the tyres? They should replace it, if its under warranty.

    @FM01

    I feel extremely thankful and obliged for the devotion and interest you showed in addressing my problem... Thank you very much.

    Now i have been clearly drawn out to a more logical solution to this problem. Once again! Thanks for Help.
    I dont think i can go for a warranty claim because i had bought this car a year ago from a friend and he had installed those tyres just a few days from the purchases. So i dont know about the seller shop but any way i can found it out from him.... Well, how much KMs are covered in warranty?... Do u have any idea?...
    Other wise i would have to go for a tyre change....
    or
    Should i try my luck and go for a wheel balancing before the tire change..... What do u think, will it work?

    THANKS....

    You are welcome Taimoor.

    I do not know about the dunlop tyres, but my yokohama tyres have 4 years warranty if they (burst, tread slip, balooning) any thing other than that is not covered which could be wraped tyres (balancing and alignment problems).

    There is a desi formula for fixing the wraped tyre. I saw a mechanic lifting the car up on jack, the driver inside the car gives race in 2nd or 3rd gear and mechanic uses a file flat againt the tyre and hold it firmly to remove the warping or heavy points on tyre, they try to remove as much as possible and do balancing and alignment again. Tyres will take some time to even out lets say a month. If you want to try this method its up to you (depending upon how much tread left now). If the problem still exist, then you need new tyres.

    @FM01
    Thanks for your concern....

    Unfortunately i didn't had any success with the warranty cover but i went for a balancing and alignement with some changes in the tyre positions(Front and rear). So the problem got minimized, to a lot more better extent and the jumps from the front has been shifted to the rear. But still the ultimate remedy is to change the tyres and inshallah i'll do in a month or few... So once again thanks for ur concern brother.......
