    Default Baleno Immobilizer Problem

I have got a 2003 Baleno with immobilizer system. Unfortunately i have lost one of the two original car keys. I have learned that a duplicate (from normal key makers) will not work with such security system and for that i will have to pay like Rs. 6000-7000 in order to get one such key from Suzuki Motors.

Upon accessing the assembly area (under steering) of my car i have found out that there are two wires which are connected with the ignition (seperately).

If i connect these two wires together and then link them with the ignition then will that disable the immobilizer and get my car started with just an ordinary duplicate key?

No you cant start your car with this mathod. Keys ky andar aik circut hota hy jis main i think aik code hota hy jab app key lagaty ho sur start karty ho to ECU ko pata chal jata hy ky yeh original key hy aur wo gadi ko start kar deta hy.

u can’t connect these two wires directly, to complete the circuit bcz it requires a precise value resistance, a surface mounted SMD precision resistor is embedded in the key. When you insert the key in the ignition, the resistor completes the path, ECU measures it value & allows the engine to start , every key is equipped with different value,…. :p:p

Oh O! You mean i have to spend around 7k to get a duplicate chip key from Suzuki? Is there any other way out or an affordable solution? I heard that there are guys in market who have installed some systems and they are making such keys for most of the imported cars. Any idea about that?

@hameeds01, interesting. But the chip/ SMD resistor is on the part of key that never goes inside the ignition, just the metal which as we know has constant resistance. How does the chip change the resistance of that part?
Also, can't ew then use a variable resistor to see which value fits?

most of the immoblisers work in proximity of the ignition key, if that is not present around it, ie it doesnt get the radio signal from the immobilser, ECU will not the car start.

if your immobliser chip is inside the key, then you have to get a new key from the dealer and they will be able to reprogram it according to your car chassis/circut number. or the eCU can be reprogrammed to accept new key.

if the private guys following the same method, they can also do the trick.

@damnd, dunt insert any ulti seedi key in it or it would sense car jacking and cause the imobilizer to reset then ull have to reprogram again, and if u want a cheap soloution, so the imobilizer can be dis connected. But profsionaly, secondly sum one askd how does the chip work while its outside the ignition so buddy breaking nws metals are electricity conductors,
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

You can get a copy made for opening the doors, then if you forget your key inside you can open the door and get to the key but DO NOT TRY to use that key in the ignition. And do not drop your lone key now :|

Handling a single key is not an issue. The real issue can arise if my key is snatched by some bandits (which they normally do during cell phone snatching - very common in khi).

I heard from a good source that this chip system can be disabled. I'll try to do an experiment and will let you guys know

i have heard from electrician that there are such experts who can start a baleno without its orignal keys but for that they have to remove its computer inside while making it just like an ordinary carborator car. in other word there is no solution for this except that which also isn't fesible. so friend spend some money and get a key from Paksuzuki.....

Will the market value of the car go down if you loose one of the original car keys? Even if it doesn't have an immobilizer? Just wondering.

@Damned, ok, now I think I understand your problem. You should then buy a new key or the whole set and get your ECU re-programmed. There is a complex method using the door light switch (driver side) and the ignition, this will render the old key useless and the thief will not be able to start the car with it. I think this answers your concern.

@HumanGenius, it may make the buyer suspicious that someone out there has a key which can be used to atleast open the doors. And changing the locks in high end cars is going to be expensive.

    @damned

If you live in islamabad. there is a guy just next to Suzuki Workshop in I-9. Just adjacent to bridge. My friend who took his baleno yesterday for idling problem, informed me that the guy can make a duplicate key for immobilizer installed cars.
