Default My Platz 2004: Any suggestions?

I bought an unregistered Platz 2004, imported in June 2007( in transfer of residence), auto, driven approximately 10,000 kms (which I doubt very much, probably it may have been driven around 30,000 ~ 35,000 kms) in Rs. 800K. I don't know much about cars and new to this forum also.

Any suggestions members would like to give?

I bought this car about a month ago and afterwards browsing through this forum I sometimes feel I bought it expansive. But there are quite a few still in the show rooms and they are demanding around 850K to 950K (2004~2005).

    Any comments about that?

I would suggest to go for new design alloys along with some Yokoz wrapped around.

    Clean Car MashAllah.

Yes, expensive since it is not a full option car and has only 1 air bag which is kinda very rare for any JDM import.

    Nice car you've got, Waleed.

Few more things I want to ask:

    1. I'm having no problems with the car in driving, should I go for cleaning the MAF sensor or throttle body as I learned in this forum. Is there any need to do so?

    2. Most of the people have removed the cat converters from their cars being chocked by the leaded fuel. But I couldn't get it, as the petrol sold by any company in Pakistan is unleaded since many years. Should I also remove it? I usually don't like to do self fabricated and designed modifications.

After all Japanese who made it are more intelligent at least in this regard !

    3. Any idea about STP fuel injection cleaner? Should I use it?

awrite...i m no expert on the cars but i wud still try to answer ur queries one by one
    1. yeah....u must go for cleaning the MAF sensor cause it gets rusted and also gets some carbon on it. its not that big a deal. but my advice is that if u havent done so yet, get ur throttle body serviced once. it makes quite a lot of difference. as per my theory, u have to get the things done ONCE infront of ur eyes, cause u never know when was the same done last time

    2. Removing the cat converter is another thing which i have done on my car. first of all, if u really believe that the fuel which we have here in pakistan is ACTUALLY lead free, u r so mistaken. nothing again pakistan as i love my country, but u know that 2 numbery is must in pakistan. just try having ur fuel here in Quetta or from Bahwalnagar. ur cars engine wud start knocking itself to death. so DO remove the cat converter as its of no use here to us. its mostly to do with emision control there in East and West. when u get it removed, u wud feel the difference as ur car with "breath" easy. and its not a major operation or modification. u just need to park ur car on a pit and the mechanic wud go down, open the exhaust coming out of the car, bang a stick inside it and break it into pieces. its a piece of ceramic with kinda like honeycomb structure. but i must warn u of two things. just above the car converter is the sensor, which must NOT be damaged. in some cases, mechanics have banged the cat so bad that it went straight till the sensor and damaged it. second thing, when the car is being removed, stand at a lil distance from the car as the dust particles of cat converter are kinda irritant and u wud start having immediate itching on ur arms and face and other exposed parts

    3. STP fuel injection cleaner....NO IDEA just get ur throttle body opened and washed with petrol. no need to do anything else. offcourse u HAVE to open the MAF sensor as well which opening the throttle body, so meanwhile get it cleaned too

any more questions, u r more than welkome

    Dear Waleed:

And one thing is bothering me, the ABS light is continuously on !

I got it checked from Toyota Motors with the computerized scanner and it said:

"Open or short circuit in the solenoid"

I don't know how to interpret it and they don't either.

    ABS LITE IS CONTINUOUSLY ON ! ! ! ! !
    wooww....now THATS a problem
    again...there can be two reasons
    1. as i suspect, rather m MORE than sure than ur car came with the analog meter as i have in mine (cause the digital meter came with the FL package which has silver lining on the ggearbox place and the fan and AC meter place has white outer lining), the guy who installed ur digital meter (that of 2002 model) messed up with ur ABS lite and didnt wire it properly, hence its cont on

    2. second reason, which i hope is NOT the case is that maybe ur ABS sensor is out of order. this means, ur ABS is not working. which offcourse u can check. have u checked ur ABS waisay keh is the ABS system working ??

Brakes are good but I can't appreciate the validity of ABS system. What is this solenoid thing which the Toyota people diagnosed?

    Should I live with it?

one more things....ur tyrees are too thin hence u wont be having that much road grip on it. go for 185/70s on ur car. moreover, ur car tyres are snow tyres (studless) and have very l.ow load rating (79 Q) . means they are made for 160 km/hrs with a max load of 963 pounds. u must change it immediately as snow tyres are not meant for hot temperature which we have on our roads. here the URL for ur info and clarification
