Default Toyota Belta - Loosing power slightly while shifting gears

    Hi guys,

I own a toyota belta 2006 model which I recently bought. The car looses power slightly when shifting gears. The car is running fine otherwise. Somebody told me it could be the MAP sensor which is causing this. Any direction or advice will really help.

maybe it is doing this for smoother shifting, it is supposed to do that under normal driving, try to floor it and see if u can feel more aggressive shifiting.

the belta transmission cannot shift, its got a variator, the rpm will more or less stay stable as the car accelerates.

It looses RPM pretty significantly... you get a proper JERK ... so its not like its a 50 - 100 rpm drop ...

your concept of the transmission that is in your car is wrong, firstly it cannot shift at all, there are no gears, its got a couple of pulleys and a belt.

The transmission should never jerk in any case, Connect it to a proper scan tool and test the unit, Do a full recalibration (including fuel pressure recalibration) and retest.

Did you take off the battery terminals to reset anytime soon?

Toyota's CVT in Belta kind of shifts gears if you keep going on a constant speed but that too at a low RPM but then it works like a CVT no jerk no nothing , people who are new to CVT may thing that its a problem

it does not shift gears in any condition, the slight jerking you feel is wrong - its either due sloppy engine mounts or your variator hold pressure is too high and the PCM is unable to control it smoothly.

I have repaired and calibrated a few jatco units which are 90% similar to this toyota unit.

that is not a gear change but the pulleys are starting shuttle, low load condition the torque convertor lockup also starts its job (you can hear it as a buzz sometimes)

You should not be feeling it in the body of the car, only seeing it on the rpm needle.

unless its a very comprehensive system - it wont help you with the CVT. There are 2 more systems that need to be reset - which a handy scanner (unless something like a maxidas or techstream) is incapable of.
