Thread: Belta Engine swap 1.0 to 1.3 or 1.5

    Lightbulb Belta Engine swap 1.0 to 1.3 or 1.5

    AoA fellows,

    I have 2006 belta 1.0. its 1KR-FE and the engine is weak.. vibrates at idle and vibrates horribly with AC on.
    No smoke at all during normal running but at max RPM there is thick white smoke. engine oil is not reducing at all. I hate the loud noise of 1KR as well. have spent a lots of time and money on replacement of oils/lubricants/coolant/plugs/o2 sensor and much more but the engine performance is still unsat... so finally ive decided to replace it with a 1.3 or 1.5 engine...

    Im in karachi... went to shershah... a belta halfcut was available for 140k.. complete with a 1.3 engine and suspension... any comments on price?

    Plz share from which mechanic in Karachi should I get the job done?
    what will the whole swap cost including price of engine?
    is it advisable to swap with a 1KR engine block and keep wiring and ECU orignal or shud I go for 1.3/1.5 engine? In that case do I have to replace wiring/transmission as well or the orignal ECU will work with the new 1.3 engine?

    I would suggest complete swap with uncut wirring 1nzfe (1.5) is cheaper than 2nzfe

    You can see engines here at gharibabad the guy is Imran Mannan 0321-8221732, 0347-2000300.

    For electric wiring a pakwheeler by the name of lowresolution said polo at hyderi market is the best. For mechanic you can take advice from vicky 03002761044.

    Yes it is 1.3. Same engine that comes in local 1.3Xli/Gli so it would be easier to maintain compared to 1 NZFE...

    expert advice is welcome...

    in my own opinion if i have to go thru the whole swap process... i wud prefer 1NZ-FE (1.5) over the 1.3...
    the question is how much alteration or extra parts change wud be required... like engine foundations etc...
    which gearbox comes with 1NZ by default???? is it the same CVT that is with 1KR (1.0) or is it auto tranny?

    Your current Transmission will mate with 2nZFE without a problem as well.

    visit the above 2 places alone between 11.30 am to 5.30 pm on your own check prices and avlblty. have patience to ask all question about wiring ecu, tranmission, mountings etc etc. It is your money so be specific & explicit for all your tech questions.

    After that call up Irshad 0300 2237538, seek his opinion without sharing your knowledge base, visit and ensure that you tag along to select an engine with Transmission. bargain heavily and at finalization ask how much will be adjusted for your older engine. -do not forget to take receipt with engine cc and engine number clearly mentioned. that will help you for registration book endorsement of engine number.

    BTW while buying engine make sure you don't get your hands on a locally used engine

    Belta half cut with 1.3 is a very good option. In fact I will say that it is better than 1.5
    The reason why I say this is, that when you buy the half cut, you'll get everything.. the engine, transmission, mounts, axles, wiring, ecu, sensors, suspension etc which you can bolt on directly to your car without any alteration.

    This will be as close to a factory fitted 1.3 as it can get, and later on you won't have any problems either.
    1.3 will give you a very reasonable drive and pulling power and you will never feel that the engine is underpowered like you feel in 1KR

    If you go for 1NZ, you will have to run around in collecting parts separately since you won't find a complete 1.5 nose cut for belta. And then it will involve modifications.

    Lastly, believe me, 2NZ is less noisy than 1NZ. That is, 1.3 makes lesser noise than 1.5, which is inherently a loud engine.

    thanx @capsat sir... im outa karachi on sarkari duty... will be back by monday... will have a lots of time... for research on a reasonable halfcut for belta...

    after the engine gets perfect IA ill get the cosmetics and audio setup... wil share pics of the shershah and gharubabad market here...

    Salam. I also the same Vitz which is giving me same problem. White smoke on flooring, no smoke in normal running, it is not lowering the Mobil oil levels but the engine sound on idle is very loud and doesn't seem healthy.
    You can actually tell that the car is coming from a distance.
    I need a suggestion regarding engine overhaul or engine swap. Please help.
