Today I went to the car audio shop to get the radio checked. It was giving a lot of distortion. The mechanic changed the radio set and all distortion was gone. He then installed my set again and it started giving distortion again. He opened up the Pre and told me that its Channel Box is gone. It was kind of a small (2 inch) chip which functions as radio.
I then bought another Pre. It is a Japanese Subaru Cassette Player(Kabli).
The Japanese FM Radio is not upto 108 Mhz, so he installed a modulator with it to work. Its working fine now, no distortion at all. But the problem is, why the Radio chip gets damaged after sometime? The mechanic told me to install a condenser with the distributor. According to him, the condenser will filter the current etc. But When I went to the electrician, he told me that Condenser is installed in the cars which have a point system distributor. Suzuki Khyber has a different kind of distributor.
I remember, I changed my Khyber's distributor 1.5 years ago. As original Japanese wasn't available, I installed a Chinese one. Can this be the cause of Radio Chip damage? A filter (Choke in mechanics language) is already installed on the line which is connected to the Pre.
