Hello guys, hope you are doing good. I have been thinking about this thing since a very long time and now I have finally decided to ask this from you all that is it possible to install a wifi router in your car? @qalandur had mentioned in the Civic Viper thread that his Civic is equipped with Wifi. I tried searching about this on the internet but couldn't find anything relevant. I have this rough idea in my mind to take a DC 12V to AC 220V USB Inverter (1000W DC 12V to AC 220V USB 5V Car Power Multifunctional Inverter DY-8111 from Dinodirect.com - YouTube) and a Wi-Tribe Wifi router (http://i45.tinypic.com/21axy05.jpg), then prepare a connection between the inverter and the cars battery and simply plug in the wifi into the inverter. I don't know if this could be done in real life? Or if anyone of you knows a better solution? Lets share ideas. Thanks.
bummpp!
why inverter ? check the power supply adaptor of your wifi device if output voltage is 12 - 15 VDC going to device power slot you can use cig.lighter plug for dc connection.
yes this is easily possible,u need a router which had a ciagrette lighter connection, its prety small in size, costs about 3.5k,it has a usb port with it,now u need a usb internet device as well, connect it with it n ull have wifi in ur car
Thanks for your reply, I'll check with the adapter in a while. Also please let me know that will there be any disturbance with the wifi signals if the car is moving at a fast speed or if the router has been installed in the trunk?
Thanks for your reply, jz bro. I am actually thinking to use the Wifi router which I am currently using at my house. Is there any device in which the adapter could be plugged in and then the power through the cars battery is used to switch on the router? I have this router (with Wi-tribe Wifi):
I dont think there will be any problem as soon as you are travelling in area where there are good signals.. And yes the inverter idea is good and less headache, just plug and play.
The fact is. That WiMAX doesn't work on the road. Try use PTCL Evo broadband 3G? maybe it will work. As its 3G It should work on the road.
Use PTCL Evo cloud. That's best solution to this problem.
Born 2 race I've done it with Wateen Thunder BOLT 2 device it's in my car

well dude ... u need a TP link Router ... which works with adapter and Usb as well ... i have that in my car ... Get a EVO , White ( new 1 ) , its a 3g router ... its little in size and its handy ... it costs like 2950 H/S price ...

Many solutions,1.buy an evo 3g portable wifi device for about 17k keep it pocket where ever you go, wifi in your pocket.2.buy a pcmcia card of evo for 1k (in case of carrying laptop with you).3.buy an evo 3g tab about 35k and enjoy it every where.Ptcl is the only company with signals all over country.
I think it will be more convenient for both car and home wifi or everywhere wifi
Welcome to PTCL
++1 . PTCL evo is the best with max coverage. and if you do have PCMCIA slot then its the ceapest modem only for 999/=
can i ask u why do u need wifi in the car?i mean whats the exact requirement?like what device will be needing wifi connection?and for what application?hope u wont mind my question.
Obviously to power up Phone GPS for navigation. Laptops for those who feel bored on the road like in Daewoo for example.
Rather then buying an EVO Wi-Fi cloud, Buy a EVO stick and a Wi-Fi router that comes with USB sharing port and use it. Cheaper alternative for on-road internet with Wi-Fi.
Really? 3 years ago, my wateen representative said WiMAX doesn't work in car. Wow it looks like they improved their signals on road.
PTCL also sells an Android touch phone which has built in EvO connectivity and it also has built in wi-fi router
phone gps for navigation can run under unlimited internet package by phone service provider like ufone is offering in 600 rs unlimited by which u stay online 24/7.
