Normally Maps are protected (copyprotected u may say). The maps file can be copied to any card but it will not activate.
The procedure goes like this
- Software is installed on the device itself (in this case the navi unit in car)
- The map file is on the card which is protected & to activate it a license file consisting the unlocking key/password is placed on the card alongwith the map file
- the key file hav no link with the navi unit it is working with but it has link with the map file & the hardware ID of the card it is copied on.
- so, if u copy the map file alongwith license file to another card, it becomes irrelevant. so no activation even on original navi unit it was working on b4.
- Some companies/hackers may produce map files without protection. these unprotected map files can b copied on any card & can b used on any navi unit.
- SOLUTION
- map files can be converted to unprotected files with freely available software on internet (google it as per ur navi software version)
- Keymaker softwares r also freely available which will produce license files for ur new card (google it)
The TrackerNav said it right that ur password is irrelevant to everybody. they hav to earn money by just making key/license files for every new card of urs, u can use ur old map files but hav to buy license from them.
I HOPE U GOT IT
