Sorry. Couldnt take it anymore after reading responses to the OP so i had to reply to this thread.
The Type-S was the only CL-9 that bore resemblance and carried factory options similar to the Euro-R, other than the engine & transmission setup. Both the Type S & Euro R did not get options such as VSA, Intelligent Driver Support, Cruise Control, Power Seats, Auto Light Control, & Sunroof amongst other things. And they both came equipped as standard with similar style bodykits, wheels and suspension which the rest of the CL-9s and CL-7s were deprived of. The Euro came stock with Recaro seats and a Momo leather steering and the Type-S was the only other Accord to come with an option of either or both, instead of manually adjustable cushion seats and the otherwise stock steering with audio controls.
The car in question probably pretty much carried this option from Japan as the original owner's preference and there's a good possibility of the current owner not knowing of this.
I'm attaching a pic from an article on 'Temple of VTEC Asia' website as reference:
The Shift knob however is another question and there was no such design available from Honda Japan when assembling these accords =).
