I have a 7th Gen. VTi Prosmatec. The car accelerates really quick to around 60-70kmph when i floor the throttle but then becomes a little slow as soon as it downshifts. Takes around 12-13secs. to reach 100kmph (The VTi Manual would do that in around 10-11secs). And those who are saying that the 7th Gen. is faster because its lighter when compared to the 8th Gen., there's only a difference of 92kg between both of these. And to cover this weight gain, the 8th Gen.'s R18 is rated at 140hp while as the 7th Gen.'s D16w9 is rated at 127hp. Secondly, the Power to Weight ratio of the 8th Gen. Civic is 1 : 8.5 while as its predecessors Power to Weight ratio is 1 : 8.6; not much difference between both the ratios. If we compare both the cars vis-à-vis, the 7th Gen. may be better in cornering due to a lighter body and a lighter engine. Albeit, in a drag it'll be difficult to say which car will win because both the cars deliver almost the same power to the wheels. As far as the looks are concerned, 8th Gen. offers a very futuristic design. Also, the 8th Gen. (top of the line variant) comes with Air Bags which are a plus point. And lastly, the newer the better.
