Assalamulaikum all.
I need a little help with deciding on what to do. I'm planning to swap a 2nz-fe that I have lying around into a G101 Charade. I dont have the transmission with me so I'm open to either getting a manual or an auto transmission. Now, the engine is taken out of a local corolla hence its a non-vvti variant and does not have the OCV. Mating the engine to a manual transmission is not going to be an issue because I have the relevant 2nz non-vvti ecu with me too. If I go the auto route, I'll have to replace the ecu as well and here's where the issue would arise. The engine, a non vvti one and the ecu, a vvti one. What I'm concerned about is, how would the ecu react when it doesnt find the ocv except for showing up an error code? In terms of the engine operation how would it perform? Cons?
Another thing that has me concerned a bit is the position of the exhaust manifold. If anyone has seen a similar swap, they can comment on this. Since the manifold is at the back, I'm suspecting that it may get too close to the firewall or may not clear the cross member.
@xulfiqar @ser_gtr Need your insight on this.
