    Default Diesel Charade Waiting for Some Love, Needs Input, Suggestions, Comments etc

    AssalamOallikum Folks,

    I had floated a thread for diesel charade, as i was looking for one but no luck so far, also there are some in market but over priced (i Think). So, here is something which i can buy from my maternal Uncle. Although my whole family is against this project (Diesel Charade) but in 2008, once i drove it almost 200 kilometers (This same car), i fell in love with it, although at that time i was much into classic cars (2008 to 2011) but now its time to get one for my personal use. I like diesel charade's economy, comfort, road grip and A/C can be installed in it which will actually work to make it complete ride.

    I am attaching few pictures of the car which is already under restoration for last 5 years atleast, due to some personal/financial constraints etc by my uncle. It is original turbo diesel charade, non accidented but sitting under sky for last five years and it needs some love to reborn. Now i have few questions from experts and anyone who knows about restoration and about charades as well.

    1. Should i buy this one and restore it (it has everything including its diesel engine) or should i look for something in running condition?
    2. If i restore it, should i overhaul its original engine and find a turbo for it or should i go for a used kabli engine (55000 Rs quoted by @karakorm)?
    3. What color should i go for? (personally i want to have black color but since car is in outskirts of southern punjab and i doubt about their skill level for painting etc).
    4. Can we install 1C diesel engine in it for reliability, as i heard negative things about charade's diesel engine?

    Your Inputs, Comments, Suggestions are more than welcome. Specially from Xulfiqar bhai, Owais Younas, Chery1, Amir. I will upload some more pic to get more idea regarding condition of this charade.

    @hash4u, Thanks alot brother for your input. Actually i need alot of motivation to start this project. Lets c. @dayrider, i can buy it from my uncle in between 60,000 to 80,000. Its punjab registered and lifetime token paid. @saboor73, Thanks alot brother to show me clear picture regarding 1C engine. It means i have to compare in between price of overhauling the present engine with a kabli one. Regarding paint job, I saw somewhere in thread posted by Owais Yunas that its better to go for light color as it will hide defects of denting, which is quite valid as i am little afraid of paint job due to lack of skill there. Lets c how it goes.

    Here are few more pictures to give u guys more clear picture of this charade and to get your valuable views regarding its restoration project.Diesel Charade Waiting for Some Love Needs Input Suggestions Comments etc -1628038Diesel Charade Waiting for Some Love Needs Input Suggestions Comments etc -1628039Diesel Charade Waiting for Some Love Needs Input Suggestions Comments etc -1628040Diesel Charade Waiting for Some Love Needs Input Suggestions Comments etc -1628041Diesel Charade Waiting for Some Love Needs Input Suggestions Comments etc -1628042Diesel Charade Waiting for Some Love Needs Input Suggestions Comments etc -1628043Diesel Charade Waiting for Some Love Needs Input Suggestions Comments etc -1628044

    @saboor73, bhai last time when i saw it, it has everything inside it and was locked as my uncle has plans to restore it. So, i believe it must be having interior parts as well.

    If all parts are available, internal and external, then it's a complete car, which isn't a bad buy on 60k

    @dayrider, thanks alot brother, i have to complete this project till nov end, if i start it. One thing which is bugging me is paint job, i want it to be perfect but i am afraid that i wont be getting whats in my mind, which can easily ruin the whole effort. Other option is to get it fixed and drive it to lahore as it is and then get it done from a good workshop.

    Better to bring it Lahore, you can even bring it here in a truck and get the work done once and properly. I would suggest to bring it and fix it. Don't do it away from the eyes in a village

    Will you get a complete vehicle or just a mechanical along with the shell in the pictures?

    If all parts are in good condition, the body will require around 50k if done right and mechanical condition based but in small cars, its usually a 100k for everything. So at max, 150-160k

    I'm really excited to see that I'm not the only person who's interested in restoring a G-100 with diesel motor As far as I know, there isn't a single super clean g-100 diesel turbo in Pakistan (even if it's there, I haven't seen one). Any good (and honest) painting technician can easily fix this thing, just make sure to make it rust-free. As for the engine, you should definitely rebuild its original diesel engine if it's never been opened since import to Pakistan. If it's already been overhauled just one time, again you can do it but it also depends on millage and damage done to the motor. If this is the case, you can go to Kabari market with experienced (and again, an honest one) mechanic and hunt a good diesel engine. It's very easy to find one because hundreds of Charade owners swapped diesel by petrol engines during 2007-2012 (CNG era) and some of the engines were factory sealed. But first you should consider rebuilding the one already there with the car.

    Now talking about 1C, please DO NOT do this at home, it's not even done by professionals under controlled environment

    1N is a possibility, but finding a clean engine is a real headache. Remember! the original diesel turbo engine is very efficient yet powerful (though little noisy) stick to the original engine.

    I (dis)agree, the first part of your statement is awesome but the last part is awful because the parts are NOT 5 times expensive (this ain't a Mercedes). I know a mechanic who overhauled a diesel charade g-11 parts + labor charges + transportation = 19,800 Rupees only! (and he call himself the 'Charade Master')

    Nicely explained like a master
    USA= Power + Safety + Design, EU= Fuel Economy/Eco-friendly + Safety + Design
    JDM= Reliability + Fuel Economy + Safety, Pakistan = Resale + Resale + Resale
