    Default New 09 Honda City

Bought the new 09 honda city last week. Sadly had to get the automatic transmission one as mother and sisters cannot drive manual. By far the worst thing you can do is get a 1.3 automatic. Car has absoutely no acceleration due to the ridiculous factory gearing on it. The car shifts to second gear at 10kms and 3rd at 20!!....Started manually shifting transmission throught first 2 gears to get it moving though the upside is 11kms per liter with full AC on. Btw this car's AC is on par with the CL9...never once had to use it on its 2nd air setting on the dryest hottest khi day!

Due to new govt crash safety for pedestrians, the engine is moved a long way into the engine bay. there is a good 4-6 inches of clear air between exhaust manifold and radiator to cushion the blow in case of an accident. This means the dash is a lot longer (like the civic reborn) to accomodate the pushed in engine. Good for safety. Also the car is a lot taller than the CL9 which explains the ample leg room it has as we sit taller in it. Lovely car though acceleration is feeble (though it might be down to using the CL9 as a daily driver for past year). Excellent AC but the price was too much for it...paid 1.5 million for a 1300cc car!...absolute criminal!!

    Here are some pics...enjoy

We are averaging 11-12 kms per liter with FULL AC on in city driving...the car has a built in petrol consumption and average km/liter gauge built in which is telling us this...and this is an automatic (manual cars get better mileage)

Parts for the CL9 are available at honda dealers but they charge an arm and leg for them...the most common route (and the route we also took) was second hand genuine parts. We are getting our cars maintaned by Alibhai motors and so far they have managed to solve most of our dilemas

Also we are having issue with the condenser on the CL9. Honda south and Alibhai have confirmed at least 5 Cl9's and 7's with same condenser issues. Apparently the location of the condenser on the CL9 is an issue on pakistani roads and most of them expire within a short period of time though second hand genuine parts are available though they still cost a lot (Not enough to make you cry but enough to clench your **** )

Btw we are starting our own diagnostic/repair business in islamabad...here is our new website (its under repair so spare the complaints)

Its a repair/diagnostic shop we recently opened. We are working on a bigger shop at the moment which will incorporate lifts and bigger waiting areas. As of now we are using the CARMAN VG scan and MB Start diagnostic computers for all diagnostic needs. Not really sure about the rules here on PW on advertising hence don't really want to start a new thread. Check out our website (under construction) to get the gist

Heres a pic of a cold air intake we recently installed on a 08 Vitz 1.0L (actually its a short air intake as customer could not find a custom CAI for this particular model). Sounds pretty wicked though and he is very satisfied with it

The drive is quite good. The suspension is nice and supple and absorbs the bumps pretty well. The starting performance in my case is horrible since its a 1.3 automatic. Things improve dramatically above 40 kms/hr as then the car really starts to pick up due to the high torque curve the city's engine has. But below 40kms/hr she is slow and the automatic gearbox upshifts too quickly. In traffic the auto is easy to live with but I really have to rev her or manually shift from 1st to 2nd to get her moving before everyone else overakes me. But like i said, after 40km/hr she really gets into the groove and is surprisingly nippy. I blame the automatic transmission's gear ratios as well as the torque curve as she produces most of her torque at higher revs which is useless when you are doing city driving

But I am not complaining too much as she is giving terrific fuel mileage. Also her build quality is on par with our previous 2005 Exi prosmatic and she is nearly as roomy on the inside. And yes she is DEFINATELY over priced....by my reckoning she is worth at most 10lacs as some interior bits and pieces are sub par but Honda says we pay more for all the latest technology she has which i consider to be bulls**t...1.5million for a 1.3 car is ridiculous regardless of its i-vtec and DBW throttle. But i honestly believe she is the roomiest 1.3 car out there...the corolla is physically bigger and imposing but we didn't find it to be any more roomier than the city

City is giving us 11-12 kilometers to a liter in city traffic. This is remarkable given that its an automatic and we always drive with the AC on. We haven't taken her out for a long highway run but it should be around 13-14 km per litre. The CL9 averages 7-8 km/litre and the Exi auto did around 9

We sold the honda civic for the city so 2 cars not 3 We wanted a 1.5 but honda eliminated that category and the only other option was the lancer but since new model is out worldwide we didn't want to risk buying it brand new and seeing a new model introduced in pakistan. Also the shape of the lancer was not a hit with the family members
