    Default Knocking in city idsi...

    hey guys...

i have a problem here....my idsi engine has started to do knocking on petrol...no problem on cng at all...but on petrol, when i push it hard,it produces sounds frm engine like kir kir kir... a frnd said its knocking,im not sure though....its there frm some time but it was too low to b heard but now its easily audible...wast shud i do?

as i drive on cng, shud i leave it as it is or shud i get it fixed? wat could b the reason nd how to rectify the problem?

note that no engine tuning or anything has been done in the recent past, last tuning was done around 7-8k kms before...

    thanx

Boos don’t take the noise on ur nerves apparently it seems that ur engine runs on CNG mostly instead of petrol and whenever u got any CNG related problem like adjustment sort of stuff ur mechanic without telling u advanced ur timing ratio while setting the CNG , now whenever u switched to petrol the timing is comparatively in lower ratio ,I simply suggest u to get ur car tuned up properly ,replaced ur Spark Plugs & Fuel Filter and get its timing adjusted on Petrol as well !

^may b u r right but there was no tuning done recently.not even cng tuning or anything at all, after the last tuning, everything was perfect.the plugs are almost new, only the air filter needs to b changed.
one more thing, sometimes the car jerks.it wud take a single massive jerk nd then go widout another for like 20 mins or so,nd then again it wud do it.on cng nd on petrol too...

I had the exact same problem with my Vario. Here are the two solutions that I got from a Honda mechanic that worked for me:

    1) Get 30% Hi-Octane filled every 15 days or so

    2) Rev the car to high RPMs (4-5) for about 3-4 KMs every 15 days. Apparently this cleans out spark plugs/injectors or something or the other. Whatever it does, it works for me.

Oh and don't get fuel from Shell/PSO. Total and Caltex are the best while the quality of Shell/PSO is horrible.

Also check air intake for blockage, because rich fuel mixture is also an other source of knocking.
