    Default My 2009 City is a fuel Guzzler for reasons unknown

    I bought the 2009 City two months ago. So far, I have driven 1400Kms. I filled up the tank twice yet the consumption seems to be extremely poor. The weird thing is that I'm getting a reading of 17.3-19.7 Kms/litre yet the fuel gauge drops at quite a rapid pace. I'm driving by the book and do not exceed 2500 RPMs while changing gears and do not drive above 70 KPH. I went to Honda Classic on my first 1000 kms free check up. They refused to tune the car via their computer as they say they will not do it before its first oil change which is at 5000 kms. Even my old 86' Corolla fairs better than this new age vehicle. Can anyone help me out on this.

    My car is fitted with 205/50/16 tires and i'm getting an average of around 11. And I drive pretty hastily. sometimes upto 120 in 4th gear. The best way to check mileage is to full the tank. let it empty, then full it again and divide the trip with the amount of liters consumed. So I guess if you're getting 13, thats good enough.

    @ali2128

    just a suggestion, keep a small diary in your car, write down the
    -date
    -meter reading
    -Liters added
    -Kms run
    -Average Consumption

    in columns, this will help you accurately determine your cars consumption, and by this way you will also be maintaining a logbook for future references.

    This is what ive been doing in all our cars, quite helpful, and you can also record you regular oil changes/tuning etc.

    @Poster,

    Bro what you are trying to achieve is caleed "Hyper miling". Google it and you will find communities on the internet who will give you even more tips. Frankly, I am not a fan of hyper miling and think it is a bit too ****.
