EBD and ABS can exist in a single package, but they arent compulsory for each other...EBD is electronic brake distribution, it gives equal braking power to each of the wheel...while ABS helps them keep from locking...

um well EBD was integrated with ABS to make it more effective..ABS makes sure that ur tyres dont lock while braking, preventing skids, and maintaining streeing control

EBD is there to maintain the applied brake force according to the weight of the car, whether to apply more brake power to the front tyres or the rear tyres, so that stability is not compromised

as mentioned above, EBD can come without ABS (and Vice versa),... for example a simple dual circuit master cylinder in a late model VW beetle has a simplified version of EBD,.. and though it isn't called EBD, the system is serving that exact purpose.

ABS (Antiblockiersystem in german), just applies and removes pad pressure on the disc many times a second which prevents locking up and aids braking and controlling the car in a crisis situation under braking (in theory).
