Default My New Honda City 2010 with little Decent modifications

    Asalam-o-Alikum

I have bought new Honda 2010. Its really a nice car. I have made few modifications:

    1) Got front fog lights in order to match it up to international release which already have fog lights. I have let border of fog lights black because it matches front grill and gives a cool touch.

    2) Alloy Rim with Neto Tyres.

    3) Rockmars system.

    4) Rear camera as it becomes very difficult to reverse because of inherent design that drivers cant see its rare. (Frankly speaking driver cant even see its front too )

    5) Security system which automatically closes the windows when activated.

How much is the reversing camera? Is it really useful?

Any idea where to get one for 2011 City in Lahore?

We have already discussed camera in this thread. It is very useful as it helps you in parallel parking and tells u the accurate distance from the things behind. It helps you to keep safe from the things which cant be seen from naked eye. This camera contains night vision which gives clear visibility at night.

Well I dont know about Lahore. I got it from Islamabad but the salesman told me that they use to buy these cameras from Lahore and transport them to Islamabad. So, you can find it at any good car accessory shop.

    Best of luck brother.

    Thank you.

I have read in another thread that this Chinese camera is for narrower cars like Mehran etc and thus when fitted to City, it shows objects out of the way which are actually still obstructing the way of your vehicle. Have you experienced this?

So how to determine the appropriateness of the camera at the time of purchase?

You are right. But better cameras are available in market. This camera is not a Chinese one. It's a Malaysian camera designed for larger automobiles like Prado. I havnt experienced any problem while using this camera. It shows a wide vision and shows the number feet a particular obstacle is located behind the car.

The rear view camera is a real useful item ... so many times, we don't have any idea what is lying just beneath the rear bumper ...the bars on the display help you determine the safe distances ... e.g. for reversing, for inline parking .. it is better to go for night vision camera ..

Bhai, your unit has option for GPS, so you can use it. You need maps of Pakistan on an SD card alongwith GPS sensor.

The GPS sensor goes inside the top of the speedometer but remains inside the dashboard, so it is not visible. It looks like this

The Garmin Sensor costs about 600 dollars and not worth spending money on ... you will still need the maps for Pakistan.

If I am not wrong, the maps are available from naqsha.net and cost Rs. 11000 on a 2 GB SD card.

I bought my headunit for Rs. 42000 and it came complete with the GPS sensor and the maps for Pakistan. The maps have complete coverage for 22 major cities of Pakistan, plus all the highways

I called rockmars office in rawalpindi where I was told that they are not providing GPS navigation till now and they have no plans for providing it in nearby future. Now for GPS navigation I will have to buy another device made by Germin. It costs 50,000+ if I want to integrate it with my Rockmars!

Other Germin Nuvi GPS devices available in Pakistan are in between 18,000 and 30,000 but all of them provide seperate screens. Now single dashboard TWO SCREENS. I hate this nonsense.

Another option is to connect Rockmars with a GPS Supported mobile phone. Use mobile as your navigator and use Rockmars as just a large monitor. But I do not like the concept again. One has to bring out wires from backside of Rockmars unit to connect it to mobile. One may hide this wire in dashboard but still it feels pathetic to connect mobile every time when you want navigation. And NO MOBILE, NO NAVIGATION. PATHETIC!

So, whatz the use of calling it a GPS ENABLED ROCKMARS UNIT as they call it on their brochure and website?

    Trunk light ...

My car came with a trunk light, but it was covered by an amplifier .. so I got a pair of trunk lights plus two footlights for the front seats from Shahid Autos F-10 for Rs 1500 including labour.

You should give it a consideration...
