    honda guys say ( what i heard on the launch) that its a special kind of filter which needs to be changed at a whooping 30,000kms. but when i asked whats the science behind it they said, well, honda atlas guys just told this to use. so, cant be sure. check the maintainence book u got with your car.
    for a normal car, 10,000kms is the max u should drive on a single geniun air filter.

    after every 10,000 Km you have to change the Air filter but sorry i forgot about the price.

    Its recommendable to physically inspect your air filter every 5000km. If you feel the air filter is filled with dust, then I'll recommend you change it. I have city 2009 and the milage on the odo is 21,000 and its my 3rd air filter. The best way is to inspect and change accordingly. Afterall, pakistani roads n conditions are always dusty.

    By the way, the new technology of the airfilter is that its a bit wet. so it doesnt allow dust suck in. the price of the air filter is 1,260 rupees. Remember, clean air filter = better milage

    Best of luck.

    yes the new technology also confusing, my ride air filter looks like blackish (as old mobile oil), I clean it with blower from whitish side but no dust comes out from blackish/dirty side.

    I changed the filter twice so far as I ran almost 11000km now. You will get Honda original filter for 1300 and you can get the same from Saddar (Rwp) for 450 rupees. I have also seen a Rs/250 air filter all of them says honda.

    I bought the air filter for 450 on first change and 2nd one was bought for 600 which is same as Honda Original one.

    OEM is probably best in this case, the aftermarket ones availabel in PK are pretty much useless.

    i'd suggest you ignore what the stealership says and rather that you inspect the filter yourself and change it when it is needed. to give you an example i've now clocked around 8000kms in my surf since the last filter change and it is still pretty clean,.. because almost every time i fuel her up i get a mild shot of air blown into it from the reverse side. till now my air box (manifold side) is still dust free (good way to check to see if there is dust passing through).

    just be careful not to use too much pressure as it'll increse the risk of filter failure (will spread the weave apart)

    @Dr.kazim
    non-genuine Air filter always became expenssive in the end as
    the filtration element paper's Air resistance is 5 to 8 time more then orignal one's
    by this factor Fuel consumption increase and more over if with orignal filter one dirve car to 1000 km and use Rs.4660/- fuel one the other hand with non-Genuine filter 1000 km drive will cost around Rs.5385/- so look it that Rs. 725/- differance only after 1000 km and after 5000 km it differance increase up to Rs.3625/- so anaylise it

    Secondly non-Genuine Air filteration capacity is usually around 5~6 Micron (means all dust or dirt particles smallar then 5 micron pass throught it and enter in engine effecting and decreasing engine service life)
    where as the Air Filteration capacity of Genuine is usually around 2~3 Micron which means more engine protection with Genuin Air filter
    So think which is more cheap and reliable

    though these filter may filter down to 2-3 microns they are not event 5%efficient at this level,.. usually maximum efficiency (more than 80-90% is around 30 microns (or higher).
