    Default My Honda City Came fitted With Goodyear Tires

    Today I took delivery of my City and was surprised to find that it came fitted with goodyear GT3 tire instead of Eurostar. The sales rep has suggested that these are good ones and I need not replace them. I was all set to get Yoko C drive and went to Pindi but strangly C drive is not available.
    Now I am having second thoughts and considering keeping the stock Goodyear tires. They look thin but in todays 70 Kms drive I find them performing really Good. good traction and no road noise.
    Any suggestions ?

    Were they the stock size? Did you purchase the car on 'own' or booked it?

    If you got it on own, its possible the investor or the person that had booked it had the tires replaced then changed his/her mind about the car.
    I hope when i pick mine up this Thursday it also has Goodyears
    *fingers crossed*

    I booked it and got it today. Its not purchased on "ON" and is OEM size 175/65-R15. Traction A, Temprature B and treadwear 280. Made in Thailand.
    So far it has performed very well.But my question remains " Is it a good tire to keep ?"

    ^ Do some research on the net.

    Replacing Brand new Goodyears dont make any sense to me, you should keep them.

    I did research but did not find those high worded reviews the way u find for hi performance tires. Thats why I was asking for some real world opinion from members here. The only downside is the look of the car with somewhat thin tires.........
    @c123pk
    Your point is valid.
    So I am going to keep them for a while. Why spend Rs 12-14K extra when they seems to be fine so far. After all its an entry level family sedan and not a sports car.

    I'd keep them if i was you.. unless the skinny tires bother you. (should give better mileage)

    The mystery still remains though as to why your car came with Goodyear instead of Eurostar

    Sir

    Goodyear GT3 is a good tire, it is not a performance tire but it has good road grip, tread life, comfortable ride and low noise levels, it is a touring tire.

    I do not think there is a need to change it, not for Yokohama C drive.

    Unless you are going for the Continentals, Michelin or Dunlop.

    regards

    Thanks for comments. I would keep them. The background story is that few months back General tires company went on strike so as a back up Honda imported Goodyear but by the time they came, General tires production started.
    They are now fitting them at random. Out of 10 cars delivered at showrooms 2-3 come fitted with goodyear.

    sir jee ! i had these tyres in my 98 civic,they are simply outstanding tyres with no voice and extra ordinary grip....i dont know why people do not go for these tyres...usually people stick to yoko,bridgestone n dunlp...believe me its wise decision to keep them..just matchless tyres..there should b no second thought...

    it's a decent "budget" tyre and is in the same league as the yokohama C-drive.

    O guda guda. Mayb they got some akal, or is urs a AT variant. So maybe there giving some value for money.

    Like Toyota is giving usb mp3 in Gli and a normal mp3 in xli
    Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

    Dear Panther, you are a lucky guy who got such wonderful tyres type in your brand new Honda City. Believe me, I am using GOODYEAR GT3 - 175/70/R13 in my Honda Civic from last 5 years without a single puncture. These are soft, noiseless and have wonderful grip on the road of any type. I have gone to places outside Islamabad, like hill stations and plains, in rainy seasons, dry and hot weather, coldest nights and mornings, but the performance is absolutely wonderful. You can check the technical specs on the website of Goodyear. Congrats on getting a brand new car. Drive safely. God Bless you.

    Thankyou all for nice comments on goodyear GT3 and valid suggestion to keep them. Today I went to Peshawar on a one day trip. Encountered heavy rain and found those tires exceptional in wet grip and sharp turns.They are far better then my previous Yokohama 539 and A300 Aspec.

    @chinyoti
    Yes its AT but thats not the reason I got them. Checkout post no 12

    @Navqum
    Thanks for the comments
