Default Need help with Honda City EXis. Auto..

It has been a while since i have posted a thread here at Pakwheels...

Just picked up my City exis auto 2002 which was standing idle for the last couple of months and was used once in a while by drivers...

Got it to the Pit Shop and had it tuned and changed the Oil (Helix Ultra), Oil Filter, Air Filter, Spark Plugs. Throttle body was services and have changed the Transmission oil also... Before it was knocking a lot and No Knocking after the Pit Shop work..

Though I feel extreme Power lose at low RPM, Have had the Timing belt changed also. Car runs good as it gets above 60, but I can feel the switch in response as it touches 60. its like it struggles to get to 60 but after 60 it gets so responsive that it touches 100 in the next 5-6 seconds or so... Lets say if I am going 90 and breaks till the car is at 30-40kmph and push the pedal again to gain speed again, it just stops responding till it touches 60 again...

Experts, Please tell me where to look, as I am lost... Some says its the injectors, some says fuel pump...

    HELP ME...

Some Men see things as they are and say WHY, I dream things that never were and say "WHY NOT"

If it's injectors then u wont get same response even after 60.It might be that any of the injectors is not getting proper current.
I think u should check fuel filter and fuel pump.I had same problem with my city and the culprit was fuel filter which was somewhat chocked.First get fuel filter checked if found OK then move towards fuel pump.

The timing belt is likely off by one tooth. Recheck the alignment of the timing marks on the camshaft drive sprocket and the crankshaft, with the tensioner properly installed and adjusted.

Thanks all for the replies, I was also suspicious on the timing belt, that's why had it replaced by non other then a Pit Shop... But the problem remains..

The only thing left is to get the whole fuel system checked... Its most probably the Fuel Filter or the Fuel pump, afterwards i'll come to the injectors.. Will update after doing that....

@hash4u, bro, if its at 30-40 and even if i push the pedal to max, nothing happens, i mean it should downshift and rav as required but it stays in that gear (maybe 3rd) and struggles till it reaches 60.. Strange huh any ideas ???

100% timing issue. i was experimenting with my auto honda's distributor once. if u retard the timing, pick dies, gear changing takes ages

dont waste money, just turn the distributor, advance it a bit

@ thumbs up for @Harsh4u, timing was out but not from the distributor.. It was out from the timing belt... He advanced it 1 teeth only from the original mark and the car became bullet

When this all was done, he gave me a strange fact saying that the original marks of timing belt in Civic and my City does not count, the Pit shop guys go "by the book" but the car performs best when setup by exp...

    Strange huh...

^^ Yes, A good exp for me... HE first checked the fuel system and declared "No fault at all" in it then he removed the Tappet cover and saw that the tappets are also wrongly set, from their he concluded that the Timing belt is out by 1 teeth..

He first said that I will try to control this from the distributor, even after that he was NOT satisfied. So he just went for the timing belt

the bad thing is it took about 2 hours to even reach the timing belt, had to open a lot of things... and 2 hours to put them back on.

Strange thing for me was that those fools at the Pit Shop doesn't know about this and claims to be Official dealers, having all the computers and gadgets..

    My diagnosis was correct!

Thank you for posting back. The marks are correct, it is just that the manual specifies a procedure for aligning them and then making sure that the tensioner is adjusted properly. When the tension is applied, the marks move slightly and that is what causes mistakes, especailly if mechanics do not follow the procedure exactly as specified.

I am in complete agreement with you, when they apply force to tighten it up, thats when pulley displaces and cause a retard or advance.

    Cheers,

@Vcheng.. Thanks Bro.. Though, my mechanic is not happy with the plug wires also.. He told me to get those replaced as well, along with the distributor Cap and rotor..

I noticed one more thing that the consumption didn't change a lot, it was giving 8-9 km/ ltr. now its the same... I don't know what should be ideal consumption with Auto Transmission...

Thank you for your comments. However, now you are asking questions that require local knowledge, so I must stop myself from saying something that may not be applicable there.
