I too have the same problem. I always refill at least 15 litres of fuel. If I fill less than 10 liters, the fuel gauge refuses to budge. Should I also have my ecu checked? The fuel consumption seems to be fine though.

I've filled the tank like seven times. The fuel average display shows that I'm doing 17-18 kms when in reality, I'm doing not more than 11-12 km/L. Will pay a visit to the Honda dealership on Monday. Does anyone know how much the check up will cost? The pick up seems fine as the engine does not knock.

The City fuel gauge has 11 level marks. Since the fuel tank capacity is 42L, the quantity level divided by 11 gives the value 3.8181818181818181818181818181818. So each level mark on the fuel gauge denotes 3.818 lites. Instead of refilling, I use this method to calculate fuel average in realtime. The results were simply horrific. Getting 18 km/l on the display when in reality it was no more than 11-12km/l.

As I have found out, this is a common issue/problem in 2010 City and is not just restricted to Pakistani models. Here are some links.

This is normal. The solution is that when you're filling, keep the 'switch' on. Don't start the car, just keep the switch on, and you will see the needle will update immediately.

the gauge is not linear, both my civic and city eat up 2/3rd the fuel in the first half of the gauge, hence second half of the gauge drops much faster.

When you fill the tank up, don't fill beyond the 'auto stop' of the fuel dispenser.

Our fuel stations keep filling long after it has stopped automatically. If you stop where the dispenser stops, you will see liner drop in the fuel needle.

Pretty illogical, but true. I've noticed it as well.

Nop, the needle still doesnt drop linearly. tried that.
the difference between auto stop and upto brim isnt 10-15 litres, thats the diffence between uper half and lower half im taking about.

I waisay never felt it to be non-linear in the drop of the needle. Unless I fill the tank till it starts to over flow. I think when you fill the tank till it over flows, the sensor is somewhere deep inside the tank, and the fuel level is much higher (till the cap). While the car sips the fuel and brings the level down to the place where the computer think its 'full' you will see the needle is showing full.

And only when it goes beyond that point, you will see the needle drop. This I think is the result of 'non-linear' drop of the fuel gauge.

For me though, this never happens.. or may be I didn't notice it with that much keen?

By the way RedBull_ar, you said you have Civic too. Does Civic show 'fuel average?' in the dash? I was just curious..
