Default 2009 Honda City 3rd gear problem

I have been experiencing this nagging problem in my manual 2009 Honda City since purchase. Whenever I shift from 2nd to 3rd or downshift from 4th to 3rd gear, it occasionally pops into neutral and occasionally grinds into place. Could this be a problem related to the gearbox, gear oil or clutch? I went to the Honda dealership and they told me that I was not pressing the clutch fully. I have realised now, that this may not be the problem. The problem lies somewhere else. Mileage is on the lower side with 5100kms on the dial. Should I have the vehicle inspected again? Thanks for your help.

Ask the HONDA guy to sit with you and let him drive. Whenever that slip thing happened then point that out and tell him to fix it under warranty if applied

I hope those guys won't charge for this. Irrespective of the problem, I simply love its drive.

Ok here's a video of a similar problem experienced by a Honda Civic owner. The problem is exactly the same faced by me in the City.

Well sir the civic manual is known internationally to give a little lag in gears 2,3.
civic is a charm on the prosmatec tranny
however i haven't heard or experienced similar problem in new city. you should pay another visit to honda if your sure enough its not the clutch issue they told you earlier.

You shouldnt have driven 5,000 kms with such a problem, Low or No Gear oil is the first cause of gear going back to Neutral, the second cause can be a Faulty gear gharari, in your case a F/F Fault.

Caution : I maybe Wrong, my opinion is based upon my own little experience

@c123pk You may have a point but then, I went to dealer and they told me that I wasn't pressing the clutch correctly. I had to take their word at face value. Let's see what turns out on Saturday. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Good news. Instead of Saturday, I went to the dealership this morning. The engineer drove the car, recognized the problem and carried out some adjustments to the clutch and the problem was resolved. All was done under warranty and free of charge. The transmission is functioning smoothly and I'm a happy chappy. Thank you all for your valuable suggestions.

@Zeejigs Thanks mate. Now, I'm searching for the modulo kit and a pair of fog lights. I'll open up a new thread in relation to my query. Hope to get your valuable advice and suggestions.
