Default Honda City 2001 heating up ... :S

Ok my dad got this 2001 City from his office.

Mint condition ... was sent to Honda Motors day before we got it to get it all checked.

One little problem ... its heating up ... the temprature rises to a bit below half point. Even after a drive of like 5-10 mins.

Checked the coolant ... looking fine to me ... bottle filled up. Any idea ? What to check ?

    get the radiator cleaned.
if problem still persists the car must have overheated previously and damaged the head gasket. same was the case in my honda

I think it is supposed to maintain that temperature, and it may be a bit below the half-mark. If it maintains it there, then its good, if it rises above the half-mark, lets say more than 55%, then there is a problem.
To be on the safe side, get a professional checkup and opinion from the Honda mechanics.

yeah amjad is right par aghar 70% se bhi upper jata hai so get it checked cuz its risky. par 70 - 75 se kam hai to its fine its because of the weather.
cuz 2.0d used to do same thing in khi and it was brand new.

Honda guys have a standard procedure for cars heating up.
change the head gasket and the thermostat valve.
the head gasket for my honda was for 3,000 !!! and valve for 1,450
you can do the math now. get your radiator cleaned first i suggest

below half level after 5 minute drive is normal. Get radiator cleaned if u have a doubt. above half is alarming, below half is not.

    check the following

    1. Radiator and Condenser
    2. Thermostat value
    3. Temperature guage

Also whether the cooling fan starts at the specified temperature or not. If not, then go to a mechanic to set the fan to direct mode rather than auto.

First of all consult the user manual. If it is not available, ask other 2001 city owners. BTW the temp needle halfway is perfectly normal and OK for XLi as it needs this temp for optimum running. I presume same case with City 2001.

    hello!
if it went above normal level where temp sign was printed....its danger....try cleaning out the radiator...and a person saying karachi has got 40-45 degress must pray from ALLAH no to do like that here...her max putted was 43 degrees and we are like fried......so normal here is 34-38 and on some days its may around 37-42 max.....nowdays...as i have got new engine and new radiatior..i drive like my temp needle was much lower than normal mark....some days back.....it was just lifting just above initial mark...i think Nissan cooling system was just awsome made..........as i am also running on direct fans...but here normally all cars runs on direct fans and i normally seen every one having needle on normal mark....i think i must got auto switch to get engine better warmed up........
be sure it won't go above normal mark sir.....i see honda engines become worse when coming toward heating problem...

Running a cold engine also damages it. Our mechanics are in habit of removing the thermostat valve and direct the radiator fan (always on) which ruins engine performance. Almost all Car Manuals have info about the correct position of the temp needle and that must be observed.

    hello
    farzal khan buddy you said...

"car may be its because in khi the weather is so hot .lits like 40 45%
ab normal garri bhi aise karay gi...
so 40-45 and 34-38 has goot much difference...its not like all time here is 40-45.....thats why i pointed out thats its not due to wheather condition...its all because of some other reason....wheather condition matters but not like it makes your car reaches above its nomral maintained temp...and i won't mind things like that cheerz

    str
i said this because 4 years ago when i was in pakistan , i used to drive corola brand new 2.0d and lang cruiser 2000 . 2.0d was new and it used to do same thing as this city is doing , the temp was 42 in april . and ive seen it going upto 47 so there is nothing to be shocking at .
if this was lahore side i would say no im wrong , every one knows temp in karachi is much hotter then islamabad side and u said in some days some days its may around 37-42 max.....

    so i said its like 40- 45
and i was there in april when it was 42 , it had same prob with my car thats y i gave him a suggestion :-)
