Default Installing Original Trunk Light in My Honda City AT

Ever since I got my Honda City AT 2010 , I was very much concerned about Honda Atlas not providing Trunk light :

    https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/mem...new-honda-city

I did saw many threads on this issue and numerious modifications done my members. But I wanted to have original fitting.
Yesterday I asked Honda parts manager and found that original assembly is available whereas the switch to activate trunk light comes factory installed. That came to me as a surprise as to why honda is still not installing the trunk light which is not even worth Rs 1000/-
Anyway I have bought the assembly and will get it fitted maybe by this weekend (If I get Time). Check out the photos.

Oh thats nice. How much did it cost you?

And did you ask about the rear stop light installed inside the rear windsheild?

The main assembly is for Rs 690/- and the bulb costs Rs 130/-. I think that 12v bulb should be max Rs20/- if bought from local shops. But since I had asked for it therefore I did not feel like returning the bulb for just few more rupees

Did u rite Rs.690 ? Honda is saving a Rs.690 for a 1.4 Million car !!!! Sheesh Allah inko Hidayat dei Ameen.

Altho ure right that bulb shud hav had been for a Rs.20, but the output quality of these OEM bulbs is way better the ones avalible for Rs.20,

I once replace my headlights parking bulb left one, (it was so differnt from the right one) so i installed it in the indicator and instaled the indicator bulb in the parking bulb,

You pay more than 13lacs for it and you still don't get a trunk light or a 3rd brake light, wow.

its really funny that they do not give away the trunk light plus I would like to add that you will get a plastic shield which goes right under the engine if you buy a AT HONDA CITY only however, in the Manual CITY you have to install it as a separate item.

    Thumbs up for HONDA. !@#$%^&*(

Really, I never knew if the engine shield is installed. I will check it up

I will have it installed locally and not through Honda dealership. Its just locating the correct wire colour in the harness grip and connecting it to main assembly. Not too technical I guess

Thats the switch and its wiring that goes into a harness mounted in the right inner corner of the boot. there onwards the wiring upto the light assembly is missing and has to be done seperatly. I plan to have it installed on sunday and will post pics if it happens.

^ You have lights in the speedometer cluster for that.
    @OP Thats great!
Do cover the whole procedure of the installation of the light.
Im still amazed at their money saving techniques after reading the engine protection sheet point.
One of the most difficult things in the world is to know how to do something, and to watch without comment, somebody else do it incorrectly.

its not just city, there is no trunk light in the Swift as well .
but trunk light can be installed easily so I don't think its a big issue.

Got the trunk light installed this sunday evening and this is how it goes:

    a. Go purchase the light assembly and bulb from Honda Dealership for Rs 690/- and Rs 130/- respectively.
    b. Get a properly fitting plug for the provided socket. I got a used one from a local car electracian for Rs 20/-

Installing Original Trunk Light in My Honda City AT -156203

    c. The switch to activate trunk light already exists as it is used to light up trunk open warning in the instrument cluster. But the wiring to connect the trunk light is missing. There are two wires coming out of the latch , orange with silver markings and a black one. The black one is neutral :

Installing Original Trunk Light in My Honda City AT -156204

    d. The orange wire goes into a grip mounted in the right front end of the trunk. The insulation needs to be partially removed and the wire from neutral end of the light assembly will be connected here.

Installing Original Trunk Light in My Honda City AT -156208

    e. The positive end of the bulb needs to be brought back from the fuse box all the way to the trunk. Remember there is a resistor in the assembly. If u connect the wires otherway around the bulb will not lightup. Its simple but I got it done through a local shop. He just took Rs 200/- for a very neat job. Total exp Rs 1000/- and u got an original light :
