Default Installing Original Trunk Light in My Honda City AT

Ever since I got my Honda City AT 2010 , I was very much concerned about Honda Atlas not providing Trunk light :

    https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/mem...new-honda-city

I did saw many threads on this issue and numerious modifications done my members. But I wanted to have original fitting.
Yesterday I asked Honda parts manager and found that original assembly is available whereas the switch to activate trunk light comes factory installed. That came to me as a surprise as to why honda is still not installing the trunk light which is not even worth Rs 1000/-
Anyway I have bought the assembly and will get it fitted maybe by this weekend (If I get Time). Check out the photos.

I will try to get a picture of the speedometer of the new i-VTEC.
BTW there was also no temperature gauge in the previous gen City.

    Thumbs up for HONDA. !@#$%^&*(
I checked the underside of the engine and found it open from the middle and is not fully covered. However there is some sort of shield on to the sides and front. Is this how it is suppoed to be in City AT?

The positive end of the bulb needs to be brought back from the fuse box all the way to the trunk. Remember there is a resistor in the assembly.

does this mean a wiring is to be made from the hood's fuse box to the trunk ??? this means its a professional job ...!!

No not from the hood fuse box but any positive feed from the fusebox located under the drivers side dash board.

Honda People are saying they will charge 3,500/- Rs and will take more then an hour to install trunk light as they need to bring a wire from that driver side dashboard fuse box to the trunk for light. Is it right?

most probably the wiring is there - just tucked away inside the loom. and you would have wires with permanent fused positive in the trunk anyway just use those - trace to which fuse they are connected to (multimeter is the best)

I dont believe that the city would be having a multiplexer like the civic - you cant go wrong.

btw - Atlas Honda should come up with very good explanations of why they went backwards with this stuff.

    no engine belly pan
    no trunk light
    no bumper braces

I would suggest you (owners talk to them) OR when you are buying your new car - get them to install all this - they should as you are paying full money, Ive had Toyota Eastern install a similar trunk light in a 100 series diesel corolla and the hood insulation pad - as the showroom floor car had it, while the one I was buying did not. THEY DID - these car sales guys are not all honest (including managers etc)

why not install a seperate fuse in the trunk like of .5A so you dont have to remove the seats or carpet or stuff for the wire from fuse box to trunk???

    very nicely neatly done!
I think we need to write a letter to the Honda Atlas GM
we buy Hondas usually because of the more options and features it offers
arm rest missing, boot light missing etc is very annoying
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

How long did it take for installation? I visited Honda Classic in Islamabad and they said it would take over 3 hours to install as there is no wiring provided, so they will have to wire it. And did you get it installed from Honda showroom?

I have got it done from a road side electracian and he did it under an hour. About the wiring, well check out my step by step process given on page 1 of this thread.
