    Default My City's 3rd gear problem solved... finally!

    Apropos my recent thread regarding My 2009 City's 3rd gear grind issue and the occasional popping into neutral. With my constant visits to the Honda service centre, and the minor adjustments to the clutch carried out by their mechanics, the nagging problem returned after accumulating 653 kms. Frustrated as I was, I finally decided to have my vehicle inspected from a normal "average joe" mechanic and voila! The manual transmission oil level was seriously low. He flushed out the entire oil and replaced it up to the mark. I've managed to accumulate 2300 Kms and the transmission is fairly smooth without any grind. My car's total mileage is 8400 kms. Many thanks to those who helped me out. I'm planning to take up this matter with Honda Atlas.

    @onlyfaith "good news, enjoy ur car!
    city is a pleasure to drive!"

    That's the only reason I bought this vehicle.

    @xain91
    I'm contemplating doing that. Constant refusal by the Honda dealership to have the gear oil level checked compelled me to seek alternative remedy.

    its partially their technicians to blame - I cant even count the number of times a SERVICE MANAGER of a Honda 3S in Karachi has called me to tackle problems in imported Hondas - I usually asked him - if they come from the same family, just think like if you built it according to certain design laws - how would you tackle it.. - Most problems were concerned to electrical problems after the owners installed aftermarket stereos or mostly trakker messed up the engine wiring harness. And the occassional automatic transmission diagnosis - Now this is funny.

    They already had the pressure gauge set to test the transmission - they just could not figure how to use it.. lol

    It was good money for me everytime - simple as that

    I've always wanted to ask you that are you professionally linked with cars? You have deep knowledge about all these matters and this post makes me even more curious.

    It's been exactly one month since I started the thread apprising you of the good news of the resolved gear grinding issue of my new City. Well, so far so good. The transmission is getting smoother by the day and have experienced no problems as of yet. Will continue to keep you all posted for another 30 days before bidding adieu to this thread. All potential new Honda City owners experiencing this problem should get their gear oil level, quality of the company filled gear oil and the vacuum in the clutch inspected from their nearest Honda centre A.S.A.P. If they refuse, threaten them with legal action or some thing else that'll wise them up :-). I know 98% of Cities won't have such problem but there's always a "rotten fish" to spoil the driving pleasure of a vulnerable few (2%). Thanks for all your support. I appreciate it.
