Default First dent on my 2009 City!

Last night while returning home, all of a sudden an unmanned police check post without reflectors appeared that prompted me to take evasive action and, as a consequence, hit the pavement to my right. I was in 3rd gear and the speed was around 40. The damage is not much, that's why I've decided not to go for repairs as it would further devalue its resale. It could have been much worse. Seriously, the authorities should stop playing with the lives of the commuters by installing reflectors on check posts. The rest of the car is ultra clean with less than 10,000 kms on the dial. Even though the dent is small it still looks hideous.

Get it dented if the mechanic says it won't cause any more damage to the paint. I don't think that's gonna devalue the car

@Shoaib22 I don't think I'll risk getting it repaired from a roadside denter. I'll have it repaired from Honda if time permits. How much do you think it'll cost me?

@star2 Thanks for the comforting words mate . I'm not in the mood to sell it for at least five more years. Of course, resale is always a factor but anyways.......

last_look Right you are. But I don't think I'll have it repaired anytime sooner. Will get in touch with Honda body repair shop to see how much time and money it'll cost me.

F1 Thanks for the comforting words mate. Appreciate it.

@mirza_yasir I agree. But this was my dad's first new buy after fourteen years. In fact, he used up all his G.P fund after retirement and bought the City. Try having a look at our Hyundai Excel. It has never incurred a dent in fifteen years. Me and my dad are someone who keep cars for the long run. So its an awful feeling. But again, its just a car. It could have been much worse. I should thank Allah (S.w.t) instead of being an ungrateful lout.

I dont think so it can be repaired without cutting the skirt...because the skirt is not hollow from the inside and its not that the denter might just need to hammer it from the inside to take out the dent.

My car's skirt had a similar dent once and I got it repaired...and the denter had to cut my skirt, then melt the metal a little bit to bring it back into shape, then weld it back and paint it.

All this had no effect on my car's resale value...as its already been sold...it was just damage to the skirt (like on your car) and not to the body.
