I thought it could be a dust or something really small which is kind of stuck in the steering column. but after couple of days, I noticed that grinding noise is gone now. It happens to me in Summer seasons. I hear a little noise as if some steel parts were rubbing against each other (not grinding). I think its normal as it happens momentarily. I haven't heard this noise for more than 3 months.

CNG has nothing to do with the steering. Go and get it checked. If they say they wont entertain you then its something else, but atleast try
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

I say you have the Universal joint in the steering column greased.

I kept my CITY 2009 with me for some 18 months...I faced the same problem couple of times...but the sound went away before I got chance to visit the dealership...it lasted not more than a day or so...both times...

the noise is the motor labouring while you play with the steering sitting at idle - the motor heats up very quickly and sometimes also ceases to function and turns on the steering light.

The steering is there for your assist - please use it responsibly, do not turn the wheel very fast - and dont turn it fully while stationary, slight movement of the vehicle is needed anyway or you stress the steering tie rod ends badly

too add, never park your car with tires/steering turned, it harms the axel boot
