    Default SWIFT vs CITY(manual) mielage and comfort

    Hello guys i need help deciding between swift and honda city (manual)....i already have two cars with trunk so this car will be for city use and most probably used by driver ...... i have to decide on following basis only

    1) initial cost is not a factor

    2)fuel mileage with a/c inside city driving (it has been mentioned that city gives around 12km/litre which is really not very existing what about Honda city) this is most imp factor

    3) ride comfort (i have heard city has stiffer suspension what about honda city)

    4) Cabin size and leg room

    5) to very minor extend resale after two years

    Owner with first hand knowledge please help me out regarding mileage issues.... Please donot make it a fight i just need serious advice

    okay, before some crazy fan boys jump in, let me answer ur questions neutrally.

    My vote wud be for city.

    1) initial cost isnt a problem, so no problem.

    2) take my word on this one, NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING made locally can compete with the fuel economy of a honda city 03-11. The mileage which u posted is when the car is brand new, at that time, yes , mileage is low. Thats because of the running period of a car, for any car. after the first 5000kms.my 06 idsi used to give 11km/ltr before 5000kms mark and after that, slowly rose up to 15km/ltr... so dont worry, i ve seen city doing 17km/ltr locally if driven with patience.

    3) i dont know about swift suspension, but yes, city suspension is a bit on the harder side but u ll absolutely love it... specially on gud roads.soft suspension produces bumpy ride on even average roads.while city's cabin stays stable and comfortable. havent driven swift yet so cant be sure but when i pressed it down at a showroom, the suspension felt as hard as city or civic.but dont worry, ride of city is absolutely smooth and comforable.and its stable too.

    4) cabin space is certainly better in city, as its a bigger segment car. even if u ignore the huuuuggeee trunk, the leg room etc is great. though u wont like the head room at the back if u are near 6ft.dont know if its the same in swift.

    5) nothing solid can be said about resale value of a swift, but its certainly at stake since not many cars have been sold and there arent many potential swift buyers in the market. on the other hand, a well kept honda can be sold in hours. ppl usually ask me on road n places if i want to sell, and a friend has new city, he says the same. so city takes the lead here too...

    now its your move, the best way to decide now is to take both for a ride, drive atleast 20kms on different type of roads and u ll know.

    @ahmadbila and onlyfaith

    Thanks

    and sorry i have corrected the orginal post i meant mileage of swift is 12km/hr which is not good considering it is without trunk and smaller in size than city...........

    and if the mileage is even same in both cars then i shall go with city

    @ammarspk

    Thanks for advice but i had more specific questions....

    Swift mileage i am getting is 13-15 in city and 15-17 on highway.
    If trunk is not an issue then swift is my recommendation as it is real fun to drive and is a real driver's car.Go for it.

    If its going to be used by the driver and initial money is not a problem, than it should be city!
    Swift is a good car but in your case Honda City will be the right choice!

    City is even more fuel conservative. Go for City.

    Better visibility (pillars, bonnet view, front windshield)= Swift

    Performance= Swift (114 bhp) City (100 bhp)-- Obviously swift!

    Mileage= City

    Road grip= both the city (with 195/60/15 sized tyres) and swift have excellent road grip

    Braking= Both City and the Swift

    Passenger comfort= City, however, the front cabin area of the Swift has a more airy ambiance to it and its front seats are extremely comfortable.

    Body strength= The body of the Swift feels more solid and durable than the City.

    Resale= City

    Shape= City

    Interior quality= Surprisingly, the plastic quality of the Swift's interior seems slightly better than City but not outstanding, however, the futuristic design of City's dashboard is more appealing.

    Being a City owner myself, if put in a situation over which car to choose, I would seriously have a difficult job at hand. Both vehicles are good. It's the rear passenger leg space and the boot which provides an edge to the City, however, for the spirited young driver, the Swift would be an automatic choice. But then again, it all comes down to personal choice. Hence, my vote for both cars is 50/50 LOL!

    an apple should be compared with an apple and not an orange.

    swift is hatch back and has completly different target segment and where City is a sedan and has different purpose.

    Swift is bought with people who dont want a big car but a small one with all the specs of a laters hi tech car.

    where is city is bought by people who needs to put stuff in trunk and need to have a big car in the house.

    i am not being biased about my product but i say for a hatch back swift is a good option and sedan then city..

    swift petrol consumption in city is 10-13
    on motorway it is 16-19

    make your choice by taking test drive of both vehicles
