    Excellent....I think you must go for this.

    I am also desperately looking for such a car. 1.3 M is good price. If you do not want let me have it.

    GUd luck but this cant be happen otherwise it would have been called city hybrid.YOu should calculate the mileage manually i dont trust these electronic gadgets .In my GLI it shows 18km/l but i know it cant give such mileage.

    @mubeenshahid

    Actually what ur saying is correct. On refuellings i have always found the actual mileage to be less by 1.5 to 2.0 kml/ so this means that if the guage shows 27.5 its 25.5 actually. This is just my observation on every refuelling i match the actual amount of litres required to fill the tank again to the brim. so yes there is error and that error is 1.5 to 2.0km/l whenever i have calculated it n ive done it several times.

    No sir there isnt THAT much of a mistake.....i just told in my last post that the error has never been found to be more than 2km/l by my experience....this means that when i got my last figures of 27.5....i refuelled before setting course for Nathaigali the next day and the exact average came out to be 25.8 km/l. The error has ALWAYS been within -2km/l from the depicted average on this guage at least for me. Opinions are welcome from other members.

    Great show stingray. I believe you are running a manual one. Which of the techniques you use the most?

    @idealali

    Sorry for the late reply

    Thanks n I'd say i handle the throttle VEERRRRRRRYYYYYYYYY carefully....like SOCH HAY APKI sort of carefully....which basically means be a miser on acceleration n more miser on decelerating for traffic (weave ur way without having to stop much but this can only be done on motorway). Thats the best to save the most fuel plus an active cross check with the active average scroll bar.

    Other important points which i take care of are

    *keep ur air filter very clean....a weekly blowing session is required.
    *keep ur Tire pressure on the higher side (i keep front 30 n rear 32).
    *Tires shud be near to OEM spec....bigger tires mean more fuel consumed.
    *Refuel from good petrol pumps only n fill to the brim every time.
    *Use the grey area a LOT. People mostly use throttle n then abruptly brakes then again throttle with no GAPS in between, what i mean to say is if u know ur gonna reach a place where u have to slow down eventually then take ur foot off the throttle before hand.
    * Tail gaiting or slip streaming helps a lot if done safely behind fast traffic like a big truck travelling fast (like 60 kph plus)
    *Very less gear changes....try to maintain a momentum but this doesnt mean u remain in the 5th on upslopes, a gear down will give u better average at steeper upslopes.
    *Put ur favourite music on and have lots of variety to keep ur mind busy otherwise ur gonna lose ur patience n throttle up

    n yes its manual tranny.....wish there could be some way of installing cruise control in this car....will show wonders on even longer drives if that happens.

    Great stingray, thanks for the detailed reply. These averages seem to be achieved on long routes, though. Do you get a considerable mileage difference with intercity driving as well? Also, can one really apply these hypermiling techniques when driving in city. I live in Khi and I feel that it'd be very difficult to drive the car like this here.

    gentlemen:
    i have checked fuel consumptions of various cars, powered from 660 cc to 6000 cc. here are my two bits:
    1. the best consumption figures (over a long stretch of road, e.g. M1, M2 or M3) are achieved at 2500 rpm, with the air-conditioning off.
    2. my honda city 2005 churned out 24 km/l!!! which was even better than my suzuki 800cc which gave me 22 km/l. my honda civic reborn 1800cc had economical figures of around 18 km/l (17 km/l with air-conditioning on) at 2500 rpm

    @idealali

    Yes these were achieved on long routes. I'd say yes i definitely get better mileage figures in local driving as well whenever i keep my throttle foot light, just dont cross 2500 rpms n ur good to go but those figures will definitely be much much less than these long route figures. Normally i dont get anything more than 16.5 to 17 km/l in the city with the AC on, that is also when im really really light on the throttle.

    I would say the tecniques can be applied to some extent in city driving but beyond that would be a hazard for ownself and other traffic too but at the same time taking ur example, lets say ur driving in khi at a place wher u get to have a free long cruise without having to face a lotta traffic, im not very current on the road structure in khi but roads like when u go from gulbai to boat basin or when u take that left turn after gulbai for hoxbay etc, its routes like these where u CAN save fuel. But definitely not in places n traffic like saddar or light house etc.

    @meeno666
    Thanx for ur 2 bits sir. I on the other hand have only tested few cars n cant boast a vast knowledge of rpm figures, however i can definitely claim that honda city is definitely the most fuel economical car ive ever driven. Ur figures on the reborn prove that those people who say it CANT give more than 12km/l are using bad driving techniques, bad in the sense that they use more fuel, its not just being slow that saves fuel, thers lots of other factors too. cheers!
