    Thumbs down Honda City 2010 ~ 2011 Pick & Knocking Issue

    Am Usman from Faisalabad , I bought Brand New Honda City in December 2010 , previously I was using Toyota Corolla XLI ( 2007) .<o:p></o:p>

    Honda City is my first entry to Honda Cars , at 400km I complained Honda Faisalabad about knocking of my car in low speed specially in gear 1 & 2 while AC on.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    Service team at Honda just beat about the bush and advised me to keep using the car it is normal. <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    I have been to Murree and cannot explain my worst experience , too much knocking in Gear No-2 , car loose power & pick in gear 2.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    Fuel average 11.7km / ltr on motorway with AC on , without AC it did 13KM. Within City drive 7~8km / ltr. <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    While AC on I felt I am driving Suzuki Cultus. My FAMILY also noticed AC not cooling as much for back seats as Toyota did . <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    2<SUP>nd</SUP> gear of Honda City is just disgusting and it can cause accident.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    Sudden loss of pick & power especially while car comes in lower gear 2 from higher gear 4 and vise versa.
    <o:p></o:p>
    I used engine oils like , MOBIL 1 , HONDA Fully Synthetic but issue remained the same.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    Tried fuel from various pumps and also used HI-OCTANE from TOTAL . <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    Mobil-1 & High Octane 30% resolved my issue . <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    I am disappointed from Honda Service Team whenever i told them about my issue they said car is normal and live with it , Kindly advise any solution otherwise I have made up my mind to sale it & shift back to Toyota.

    city does have a bit knocking issue but its not that worst also pick wise i think only 2nd gear lags that too between 1000-2000 rpm after that its all good,,, solution to knocking is same what u did 30% hi-octane, and use 1st gear up to 20km/h and 2nd up to 40km/h at least , if u r using normal patrol if it still causes prob then there has to be some issue,,, my city did 9km/l city and 12-13 km/l on highway initially but now around 3.5k driven its improving on highway up to 15.5-16.5 km/l and in city its 12.5 km/l and the ac is always on,,,, many ppl say it takes from 5k to 8k on the odo meter for it to reach a good millage,,, till then u have to bare, i think city's ecu doesnt provide mush fule at low rpm and so it has less torque at those rpm where as above 2500 rpm its a beast, better then any other 1300cc

    Did u get ur car new or used? I hve never faced this problem in my city. What u shud do is check whether the ECU upgrade has been done in ur car or not, as per my understanding, this upgrade is being offered standard on all cars since later 2010 models, it got rid of all kocking issues etc.

    It'll be fixed easily , pour in some octane booster from STP , buy from some good reputable show so you know its real.

    And some injector cleaner next fillup.

    It costs around 399rs.

    zero meter , brand new from Asghar & Sons Faisalabad.

    Recently my car is inspected by Honda Engineer , he clarified it as unique feature of i-VTEC engines and a little issue is being reported to Honda Japan by them already.

    I told Honda Engineer that my car performed well on Mobil 1 5W-50 but he insisted me to use Honda Fully Synthetic Oil 5W-30 by Total.

    Really Helpless with Honda !

    Changing your driving habit will work i guess.

    in Gear No-2 , car loose power & pick in gear 2.
    shift to 1 gear in such conditions. if one is not changing gears properly car seems to knock a bit.

    For example you approach a speed braker and you pass it in 2nd gear the car will knock a bit and if you dont want that shift to 1 gear. knocking in 1 gear at 1kph or 5kph id pretty normal for every car.

    keep the RPM in torque range.

    I myself is facing same issue since couple of weeks....really worried about it specisally after this fuel shortage issue in lahore i had to take some fuel from barkat market PSO & since then my city 2010 Automatic's drive has gone pathetic with severe knocking & very low pick + AC aint working...i was planning to visit Honda but after Usman's & other fellows reviews I guess it would be waste of my hard earned money only !! pls suggest a way out as I can drive it like this....     em getting max 8/ltrs in city with AC....27000 kms driven & its Auto...i dun let rpm go above 2000...very soft on accelator...what to do ?? 8 is tooooo bad for 1300 cc.

    All the people having knock up issues on petrol, why don't you people shift your cars to CNG. CNG has a higher octane number than Hi-Octane petrol. Hence no knocking issues plus its not heavy on pocket.

    CNG ! an invitation to many other problems ,

    First of all Honda will get a chance to refuse my warranty.
    Second the car will start touching down more easily due to its low profile structure.

    While taking a test drive by Honda Engineer it touch down within the service premises with only 2 person sitting inside . Quite Funny .....

    There are no problems on CNG. A lot of people are running their new Honda City on CNG. As for the warranty, yes it would get void. But what benefits are you getting from this warranty anyway?
    If the car gets lowered due to the weight of CNG cylinder, you can put 1 inch aluminum spacers on rear springs.

    im afraid u got the defected car. im using this machine since 09 and its one of the most nimble agile n fast car in 1.3 category. though im using it with high octane but still when few times when it was not available i used pure simple petrol there was no knocking issue. u have to rev it a lil bit more thn toyota as its compression ratios is more it means its an advance engine with same size of other but squeeze out more bhp on wheels which needs more octane in fuel wrt compression rate of engine, while toyota is normally blessed with more torque n less compression thats y there no knocking. or may be its drive by wire thingy which your foot is not familiar with? cz dbw always gives u a lil bit lag as compared with the conventional wired accelerator

    Sir then why not Honda Confess it that they have sold a faulty car to me ? Why they said all OK ?

    I would also like to share some more reagrding this car ,

    --Car with very hard suspension
    --Replaced Battery with higher Capacity as company fitted battery cannot cover a week standby time with tracker installed. Whereas we have no issues like that in Toyota 2007 even with the addition of High Fi AMP and HID.
    --- Poorest AC in Honda City , dont cover back seats and much louder on point 3.

    Some people told me that Honda 2011 is improved specially in AC and Pickup.

    wel as far as ac is concerned bro it chills much better thn new corola as toyt=otas ac is made in Tharparker( yes they have a plant here now) old rola 07 was good with ac but new one is an epic fail n owners will agree though im talking about altis not gli xli dont know about them but i think they will have the same ac. it cools and city ac chills thats the difference

    get ur cars ecu program updated from any honda dealer ship

    i did this in mine
    now working perfect
    also use hioctane 1 tank after 5000kms

    filling your car from total petrol pumps does create knocking.try and not use total.
    go to shell,pso and caltex.

    my city 2011 also has the same problem you are describing and only a micture of hioctane and super helped.try mixing 10 litre of hioctane and the rest with petrol,however make sure its not from total.go to shell,pso or caltex
