Exclamation Comparison between Honda Citi 2006-2007 and Honda Citi 2009-2010

Hi guys I am planning to sell my citi 2006 as my dad has advised me to buy a new citi. My friends have advised me against citi 2010 as they say that the previous citi was far better in performance as compared to new citi. They say that dashboard is made up of poor quality material and gadgets have problems.

My current car is very well maintained with mileage of87000. I have maintained a proper log book against all the oil changes.

Kindly advise if I should go for new citi as I am currently confused.

You do have to keep in mind though that there have been many complaints about faulty design of the fuel tank in the new City and also you will have to use Hi-Octane, otherwise you might face pick up and knocking issues.

i wud personally say stick with ur old city if its not giving u any problems. 06 city is exteremely economical on CNG with cheap spare parts. new city doesnt run on CNG well...and gives lots of problems. its seats are stiff ad yes dashboard is prettty weird in quality. u wud have to pay so much extra for a less comfy car. on long routes it literally breaks ur back. and a lot of complains abt knocking issue...plus...ppl also say its sound prooofing is not too gud as u can literally hear petrol moving around in the fuel tank. so i wud say, if u r having a gud car, which is reliable and ocmfortable and big and economical and gud on CNG, why on earth wud u like to change for a car which has the repute to give troubles ? just ma 2 cents

New city is more sort of sporty car, where as older one is more sort of Family car. Took my friends car outside for multiple times and only problem which I have observed is back seats not as comfortable as that of old car. Space is also little lesser inside.

city has got relatively less leg space for rear passengers, plus its rear doors are too congested for passengers to enter, may b some design issues.

P.S i own a city 2009 and who ever sits in my car says that ur car is congested.

Go for new Honda City i-VTEC. Its a powerful machine unlike i-DSI which was under powered. Plus your vehicle is more than 5 years old now, it is having 87000 Km on the clock. Its time to replace your ride now. It can give you good amount now but after some time, its price would fall because of its age and mileage.

    i had city 2o05 also i had 2o09 city.
personally i like city 2o05.suspension is really far better then 2o09.milage is far better then current shape and at times i felt the road grip is better of idsi.i drove 2o05 city 197o0okms and still i wanted more of ciy 2o05.got 2o09 drive 40k kms and sold it.
    new city features abs.
new city has po0r interior quality as compared with city 20o5.
idsi is does not comes hard on budget if u drive on either gas or petrol.u must have been hearing many ppl saying idsi gives 2o0kms (+-5 kms) per gas tank.its true.have u heard anyone say about new city?
new city does not have light in boot
IMO u should not go for new city and go on with existing city.best of luck

@ talha, it what aspect is the old one better than the new one. Never really got the chance to drive the existing shape but one thing is sure. The handling characteristics of the old city (i mean 98-02) can be felt more in the latest one (1.3 i-vtec) as compared to the idsi one.

Almost everyone I met who have driven both City 2004-2008 models and the new one everyone say that drive wise and interior build quality wise City 2004-06 was better. However the shape & looks of new city are a class above than the old one, but so is the price!

I have a relative who is so loyal to City that whenever a new model of city comes, he exchanges his car to get the new model as a replacement for old model. He now regrets selling his 2004 model vario saying that the drive quality of new City 2009 automatic version is way below that of the old ones.

Guys thank you so much for your opinion, no doubt my car is 5 years old with mileage of 87000 km and if I sell it now then I can get a good price. Opinion differs here from individual to individual. I don’t think so city 2006-2008 is underpowered, it’s all about keeping your car tuned. Quality wise, 2006 car is very good with very comfortable seats and very smooth drive. One thing is for sure, that ladies like the drive and feel of city since it has very smooth drive, comfortable seats and noise free cabin. I think I will be bargaining against braking, sporty look & feel, torque and relatively less comfortable car.

Can anyone tell me when Honda is changing citi’s model. As far as I remember they used to do it after every two years but currently don’t know about their plans.

Honda is not going to change City's model soon. Internationally new Civic is introduced, so Atlas Honda would be working to launch new Civic in Pakistan in 2012. About City, most probably we would see its facelift version in 2013 I guess. From the previous generations of Honda City, we see that Honda always launches a facelift model before a complete model change.

How authenticated is this news that Honda would not be changing the shape of city’s model soon. As far as I know they have been doing it after every two years. Is there a change in policy or just a word of mouth?
