Unhappy Honda City 2006 - Lock and key problems

    AoA guys

I am having lock and key problems with my Honda City 2006. It appears that all locks are failing one after the other.

First the driving side door lock would not open with the original key. Since i was using security system so i didn't bother much

Then the boot lock failed. The key just won't turn. Again not a big problem as the boot can be unlocked from inside

Now the real problem, the key gets stuck in ignition. It just enters a few cms and gets stuck. Thora hila jula k chali jati hay lekin dar hee rehta hay k kahin kisi jaga masla na ban jaey

I have tried both original keys and the local made key but same results with all locks

Now I am quite sure that a visit to good lock master is in order. So can anyone please suggest if i am missing something. Or if it indeed is a visit to 'taalay wala', can someone please suggest a good one in Karachi.

    P.S.
I hope this is the appropriate section of forum. Appologies if not

Honda upgraded there cars key but degraded the locks.

As the key keep geting used, "ghiss jati hai" It starts damaging the levers one by one it damages all locks, and the ignition as well, We got our City entire locks replaced under warranty once. But since its finished now so theres only 2 things left either to get them repaired or use a keyless entry.

Chabi walei recomend to start using the duplicate key after the 1.5 years, The other solution to this is to get a key less entry system installed. Altho i hate the Chines systems but one can settle for a simple lock/unlock setup as well.

But still get ur locks repaired, it is possible that the cells in the remote die.

I know this guy in DHA phase 2, just a lane before Rahat milk corner, this guy does a gud job with all honda locks.

Ive got some Hondas in the family fixed from this guy.

i ve been through all of these! most of the hondas from 2004-2007 have this problem.i ve got the driver door and ignition key lock fixed (its fine since then, which is more then 2yrs atleast)
theres no other way then to get them replaced or repaired.

The jurmana shouldnt be more then a rs500 note. There isnt much, they would repair/replace the levers in the locks. Nd i guess the guy gives warranty aswell, I dunt have his number but he provides home service as well.

As most of the Hondas dont start till the issue gets worse

well sometimes locks also get jammed from not being used at all. both of my cars a corolla and a margalla had this problem that all the door locks became stuck the ignition and trunk lock was fine. the culprit was that the keyless entry system lead to locks not being used at all and the collection of dust inside lead them to being jammed. i tried totkas like wd40 but nothing worked. finally got em fixed from a locksmith.

I had the same problem with my Civic. The key that I got from the leasing company wouldn't work in the passenger side door, 6 months later it stopped working on the boot. I got it repaired from Tariq Road, after the older key ( the one that used to work started giving problems too).

The guy opened up the locks, disassembled them, cleaned the mechanism inside, there was residue stuck inside, and re-installed them. He also took a small layer off the newer key, thats when both the keys started working again. He charged 500 for this.

firstly - never use WD40 or any liquid lube for the locks, always use graphite powder (usually available very cheap at a chemical market)

secondly - go to Honda and get a brand new key from them, your old one is probably worn out now. (common problem) - The original new key would be matched perfectly to your cars locks.

I have always been told not use heavy key chains or home keys with the car key. They are known to destroy ignition. Its about time we should have immobilizer and a start stop button along with key less entry.

    @chinyoti

Hello bro, i have been following you for some time @PW and you are doing a great job of helping others with your knowledge.

Over the last few days i drove my honda city 2006 steermatic alot especially during last 2 days and just yesterday i could hear a whistle (seeti) sound which was either coming from alternator or timing belt or somewhere near ( bonut khol ke qareeb se note kia tha toh vahin kahin se arahi thi).

Now i know people have already put enough info over internet over possible issues ranging from belt and alternator issues to something leaking etc.

First plz check the attached pic and the yellow circle. What is this ? is this touching the belt or what it is ?
    Is it normal ?

    https://postimg.org/image/lxrkpsr69

Just wanted to ask you if you could list few steps, in order, which should be checked. I asked you coz a friend of mine had hard time fixing one of his alternator issue and i dont want to repeat his sad story with myself. To begin with i dont even know if this is actually an alternator issue.

    cheers
