Default Honda City Engine Oiling Up

I have Honda City. The vehicle 's consumes engine oil in small quantity after approx every 1000 Kms of running. I have contacted a mechanic who is specialist of Honda Cars only. He has guaranteed that after putting new rings the problem would be over, the expenditure of installation of new rings along with oil change would not exceed Rs12000. However, at the same time i have also heard from few friends that it is better to get new Kabli Engine installed because the overall of Honda Engines does not work out well. Please advise me how to go about it?

Search the threads with tag 'compression test' goto any reasonable mechanic or work shop in lahore get compression test done if engine performance is deteriorating due to rings and fuel efficiency is declining go for ring job only. At least the engine you have in the car you know the history and maintenance rating.

Engine swap will be highly expensive and you also have to put the new engine number on the regn book, 'in desi style' resale would be down to 50% - there is workshop in lahore by name of moon motors ask around other members for their opinion for the place.

carry on with the current engine if the oil loss is not in huge volumes.. engine swap or even overhaul will be a big expanse and possible headache latter as Capsat mentioned above....
So just top-up your engine oil maintaining the appropriate level on dip-stick.
by the way, do you travel on highways / long-routes more??
anyways for more info....check the relevant PW forums and threads on oil consumption...this has been discussed in details many times over.
P.S : always give enough details about your car...you only mentioned Honda City...Honda have introduced City somewhere in early 80s...we dont know which model you drive? whats the reading on odo ?? its a CNG or petrol ...which oil u have been using in your car ? etc etc...the more info u come up with, the better the response u get from PW......good luck
