    Honda;s statement..

they removed the guage.. on 2 basis..

    1. to reduce the cost..

    2. on the basis of historical data .. that how many drivers actually look at the temperature guage during driving...

my peugeot 205 comes without a temperature guage...and its a diesel car.. that means it runs much hotter.. and the coling requirements are much tougher as compared to the petrol cars.. and by the way my car is like 13 years old.. and it never heated up... it has a light which comes on.. which tells you that you need to take a pitstop that is prior to engine heating...

there is another light which comes on... if the coolant level is dropping in the water/coolant reservoir... if the 13 year old method and technology can work fine... till today.. in a 1.8 diesel car... then definitely the newer technology can handle this is a 1.3 or 1.5 liter petrol car...

by the way one more thing i would like to add....the engineers/designers.. and the honda thinktank... would hav thought about all what you hav said.. and even more than that.. which we may not even be able to think...

so rather than pointing out fingers ..go and find.. how many times the honda technology has failed... in the city..

the engine shutoff is a much secure thing.. coz with a guage... even if the temperature is rising.. and you dont see... engine says bye bye... and cause severe damage..

so its much safer to turn off the engine... which should give you time to cool it down.. and see whats the problem is....

I go with honda.... and if you are looking for performance... then buy a civic... city is not for performance.. it is cheaper yet.. comfortable.. alternative... for those who cant buy civic...

so for all the performance heads... city is not for u..so dont complain for not having the temperature guage...

    @ spectra...

the picture you posted of the liana and city side by side... the liana is looking better.. coz the city has the most pythetic color it can have... a white or silver city shold hav blown liana away....

liana is a good car for those who like suzuki... and for those who like the honda engineering... and the Honda tag... city is much better...

we cant agree on cars.. but for the temperature guage.. that was the story..
Do the environment a favour, Use less airconditioning .. and please walk to the shop to get a pack of cigarretes..its only a 3 min walk..

minex...u dont hav to get overheated ....we were talking abt the enjin only..lol...chill dude...

abt the hondas.....see the pic again...there were citys in 3 colors one was the burgundy sort(ur term pathetic)...what abt the metallic grey and black???...i believe black is one color jo har gaari pe uthta hai....(most will agree with this)!!!!

yet again the liana looks better...i find both of them personally ugly...but this tym liana is better ...i dont lyk any of them tho...
RX-7? An RX-7? Really? I hope you know it's just a sports car with a washing machine under the hood.

    abt the temp thing....

dude...the engine shut off thing shud be installed with a gauge warning system also...that is a good thing by honda!!..
    BUT
that is the exreme case....the cure after the engine gets hot..!!!

but what abt the prevention..??? in a gauge u can prevent overheating from taking place...whereas with the light ....its just gets hot..and BUM...engine is off!!!

    No offence..

I would also like to have a heat guage in the instrument panel instaed of just a light...... one should be knowing the continuous temperaure of the car, not just above and below a certain threshold.........

    Quote Fli_GtI

The newer city cleverly makes away with the guage altogether, a design feature carried over from its hybrid and bigger counterparts using VCM that shuts down cylinders (appropriatly from the firing order to achieve S-ULEV status and in part managing overheating. It apparently usues indicators for COLD & HOT positions only so if either is illuminated somethings chucked a wobbly otherwise she's chugging away nicely.
