Default Honda City Mileage 18kpl , Myth or a Fact?

I have seen two honda city eco Fuel meters , one mostly driven on city showing 10.5 kpl, other mostly on highways showing 15 kpl.

A 600cc mira gives around 15-16kpl in city, How come a 1300cc give 18 kpl average?

    City Owners ! please explain

engine size is not the only determining factor of fuel.

    a Honda NSR250 at max can achieve 15 km/l (250cc 2 stroke motorcycle)
    a Nissan diesel 2000cc sunny can achieve 18 km/lit.

btw dont rely on the little eco meter in the dash, its highly inaccurate, you can run it to 100 km/h and coast back - it will show you 50 km/lit because no fuel would be injected on the overrun yet the car is moving.

I consider it a vacuum gauge at best.

I couldn't get more than 14km/l local driving with 100% ac on and on motor way best was 16km/l.
I think these r handsome figures. AlsoThese r not ECO meter figures although that was showing 10-15% extra. I drive with soft foot. No harsh drive at all. My odo is under 5000km yet. Always mix super with hi-octane to get 91ron....
Don't know how people get 18-20km/l.....

the smaller the engine more it has to work to maintain decent pace while a 1.3l engine run very smooth at 110-120km/h this result in good fuel economy secondly body weight of Honda city is very low lafafa hai

its all depends on your right foot,i own honda city 09 its 46K driven all on patrol and i easily achieves 18-20KM/Litre on highways with 3-4 passengers on board and a/c on.

as per my exprience, what i do is set the odo meter zero when leaving for highways so to understand better that this average which i will get will be purely highway and would be much better.Plus in 2009 and onwards city models you can also see the current fuel consumption plus its total average together which is a very good to maintain....

I have recently bought honda city aspire. I have driven mostly on canal road. It gives me around 16-17 KM/Liter. There may be some plus minus with the accuracy of economy meter. I am trying to drive in between 2000 to 3000 RPM in each gear. I think in between these RPM, you are mostly near to sweet point. Need to figure out what will be the sweet point of Mira in different gears. May be you can get more fuel economy.
