Default Honda City Mileage 18kpl , Myth or a Fact?

I have seen two honda city eco Fuel meters , one mostly driven on city showing 10.5 kpl, other mostly on highways showing 15 kpl.

A 600cc mira gives around 15-16kpl in city, How come a 1300cc give 18 kpl average?

    City Owners ! please explain

You are actually effing up the mileage by his method and are also setting your clutches at the verge of extinction.

Light foot doesn't necessarily mean LOW RPMs. It means avoiding hard accelerations, frequen braking, flooring the car excessively etc.

What you're saying is basically driving in 5th gear at 60kph.

It has several disadvantages like toasting your clutch, even the transmission in the long run, even worst mileage figures, and the biggest of them being not able to evade a tricky situation while on the road. You'll need an extra 2 or 3 seconds to down-shift if you encounter a danger.

So always drive in he best possible gear and maintain below 3.5k rpms. Tanki b khush, tranny bhi khush

agreed bro, this bhai jee is actually talking about his the opposite way. Mileage figures technically and practically improve as the engine ages.

I met this friend of mine who owns a city 2010 driven 50k kms. He said the car is sluggish and sucks at fuel economy. He was told to ge tuning done. So, he got "something" done to his car and came back like this sucks man, tuning didn't work!

I drove the car, asked him about the tuning thing, he said filter saaf hain, plugs achay hain bla bla. Ye dekho (popped the hood and showed me the filter) bilkul new aue white hai.

When I turned it over, it was as black as ROAD TAR! Literally!

We drove the car without the filter and 75% of he problems went away! Thats what people do around here and then complain about car's not delivering upto he mark.

Dear that 15kmpl was with the RPM between 2.5 to 3.0 plus what ever u said very limited brakes, shuting down of engine at red light, floating the car on neutral when i see that the signal is red etc.
but some ppl here told me that u can extend it to 18kmpl so i was trying to be more optimistic by driving it max to 2 or 2.5 but as per ur info this is not good for engine so i ll try to avoid this thing now.

aah well! Then I guess it ain't gonna get any better unless you diagnose what causes this drop in mileage for your particular car. I don't mean that 15kpl is bad, its anything BUT bad... The point is, people get more than that from the same car and so can you. And if you can, you should does it have CNG installed?

Supposing these two cars aren't the same I mean u didn't posted mistakenly twice, I would like to know how much are these two driven, esp the 2012 one?
-What engine oils are used in them?
    -What were the driving conditions?
-What fuel was used and from what pump?

Despite being auto transmission, it still delivers this kind of mileage being a 1500cc car.

But all we know is mehr khan is 800cc and steermatic is 1500cc, how can it give more mileage?

All we know again is that fallaaan ne city li, usko toh 12 deti hai, ek aur ne li, usko bhi 13 de rahi hai so why do u keep lying?\

We don't consider power to weight ratios, engine technologies, driving styles, fuel qualites etc. Maine 4, 5 typical drivers ki examples di hain perfectly explains all the formulas heheheh...
