Question City 02 Power Steering Problem

    Salam

Steering of City 02 is giving wining noise while trying to turn , it has become a bit hard too. i think the power steering pump needs overhauling or it needs to be changed. Can any one tell me how much would a new unit cost me and how much of a difference it is going to make , at the moment it feels like a coure's steering.

Also i noticed that the power steering pump pipes are all rubber where as the ones i had on my civic were steel , how much of a difference does this make.

    Regards
    Wasil Rahim

The best car safety device is a rear-view mirror with a cop in it.

some pipes are rubber like the ones from reservoir to the pump both high and low pressure. The remaining are high pressure steel pipes.

For noise and hardening you should if there is any leak and its sucking in air from somewhere. If the pump is not leaking and doesnt have any play then don't touch it. You may get the fluid replaced. You can also ask the power steering guy to check steering gear settings.

A kabli pump in good condition should cost around 6k. I doubt pump is the issue.

Not really, parts r not too expensive. Alot of civic stuff fits perfectly. I recently changed my ps pump for 3500 but thats here in khi. You just need to know the right places as ppl quoted me as much as 8k for the pump. Before that i had a leak in rack fixed for 2500.
