    @minex

    If the coolant temp sensor is faulty, it will not signal to the engine that it has warmed up, and keep the mixtures constantly rich throughout operation instead of at the time of a cold start.

    How long does it take for the cold engine warning light (no temp guage in city) to go out each morning?

    Check the exhaust for carbon deposits since it should be clear and brown in color (engine runs on lean mode in normal driving). If it is black, then you have a rich mixture.

    You will have to go through all that the others mentioned to check for what is faulty. Most OBD II scanners can give you realtime readings from sensors so you can run the engine and monitor coolant temp, rpm, air-fuel ratio etc at the workshop.

    Cheers

    BTW the average figures you posted are correct. I recenlty got around 18 at speeds of 110-115 with AC on on M2 and around 16 at speeds of 120-125 with AC on M2.

    Well I have a manual and that too CNGed, which causes a 10 % decrease in petrol mileage as well(due to extra weight and bypass systems of CNG). To get such mileages you need to have a lot of patience. M-2 or GT road towards RWP is not flat, there are a lot of inclines on the road. To get a good average the trick I use is I never press the throtle any extra on those inclines, the speed declines from 120-110-100 and than shift to 4th if the incline continues or if the incline ends before 100 than it will get back to 120 but will take some time.

    Now thats the story in manual and since yours is a cvt one on such inclines if you keep going on same throtle as before incline your cars speed will decrease and it will downshift automatically. An auto can do 120km/hr at 3600 rpm and also at over 4000rpm. Its upto you how you want the power delivered. Try to keep the rpms at minimum level for a certain speed like at around 120 try to keep them close to 3500rpms, and if there is something like incline etc which reduces speed dont push the accelerator hard the auto will automatically downshift and your car will be moving.

    The key to good mileage is how softly you push the car if you do it too hard than you wont get any good figures
