    Default Honda City 2006 ?!?!

    Few days back me; tauseen123, SAABi and gem_guy went to dealerships of Chevrolet, Suzuki, Honda, World Automobiles ( for Nissan ) and to a few importers.

    {sorry guys no Pics for you all, we din't had a camera or a camera phone }

    We have quiet alot of conclusions about quiet alot of Cars and imports which I would like gem_guy and SAABi to start on this Topic and allow other members @ PakWheels.com to comment and give their views upon.

    The thing i want to state here is the New City(s) Engine.
    The engine code of it is L12A2 or something like this, I MEAN L12 is for Sure Confirm!! .... whereas The engine code of City which came Before the Fish Faced Models ( NO OFFENSE INTENDED, PLEASE ! ) had an engine coded 13A2. Which was 1300cc.

    The point here to note is that By the engine code of the new City we can Conclude it being a 1200cc engine RATHER THEN A 1300cc as CLAiMED by Honda PK!!!!!

    And maybe this is the very Same reason it has astonishingly Low Fuel consumtion as Compared to all other 1300cc's in iTs Class!!!!!

    I urge all the Technically sound members @ PakWheels.com to assisst us, all members, about the REAL Engine Displacement of the engine coded L12A2.

    here is a global website

    http://www.globalautoindex.com/model.plt?no=204&***=

    and this is the site of honda Pakistan
    http://www.honda.com.pk/

    specs of the engine mentioned by pakistan are 1300cc exact with 57KW at 5800 Rpms whereas 1.2 engine specs on global site say 57 kW (ECE) 5700 rpm

    About torque honda pakistan say 106 N.m / 3,000 Rpm
    and global website says for 1.2 engine it is 110 Nm (rpm) 2800 rpm

    Now tell me a bigger engine as claimed by HOnda Pakistan is producing lesser torque at greater Rpms whereas 1.2 engine is producing 4N.m mnore torque at 200 leeser Rpms.

    What is this confusin and although at a different Rpm, but why are the figures of KW are same for both 1300 and 1243 cc engine?

    Also Honda Pakistan has very cleverly omitted Bore X Stroke numbers from the website, why?

    Here is a more lucid way of comparing Hinda engines side by side

    http://www.answers.com/topic/honda-l-engine

    which one of these is offered in Pakistan? Engine says L12A i-DSI and it is shown as 1246cc all over www. Only Honda Pakistan say its exactly 1300cc.

    Doubtfull isnt it?

    Car dealers are a bunch of jokers, you all should knwo that by now. all they want to do is sell the car and they'll tell you watever it takes to make a sale.

    Guys, seriously, no one cares! Ppl are still buying the Honda City and will continue to buy it, and its becoming increasingly popular! Ppl are looking for comfort, good fuel mileage, good resale, and basically value for money. No ones bothered with whether the City is 1246CC or 1300CC. Look at it this way, Rolla has horrible quality, as in horrible, but its selling! These things are inconsequential to the lay man who makes up an overwhelming majority of buyers in this country! Yes, the 1300CC version must be offered in lieu of what we're being offered now, but it wont be and we must stick with what we have! If Atlas Honda and Indus were to actually give any weightage to what the "consumer" would think, these chaps would have been out of business years ago! Imports rock, well, the non-stolen ones anyway!

    so much for a long discussion over an engine code...

    cant you just go and check the engine code on the block itself. just open the hood and look for the engine code metal strip which is tied to the block...just next to the exhaust manifold. it should say what code the engine has.

    i dont see any reason why honda pakistan would like to its customers. big companies usually dont do this...i cant imagine why would they sell a 1.2 motor saying its a 1.3.
    I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it..and so restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions.

    @tauseen:

    Dude, tell me one valid reason as to why they SHOULDN'T term a 1246c as 1.3?

    Allow me to let you in on a little common knowledge here.
    Honda is even marketting its 1339cc i-DSi and a 1.4 in Asian Market less Pakistan. Now can you call that a bluff? NO you can't!!

    No car has absolute, 1300 as 1.3 or 1600 as 1.6. There is ALWAYS uncertainity.
    This bigger difference of displacement might be due to inner cylinder head configuration, but not sure though.

    Even new Mercedes Benz terms its 6.3 Liter engine as 6500cc and calls it "65 AMG".
    Thats a difference of "200cc"! Now you'll say Mercedes is doing fraud. Certainly NOT in my eyes.

    From my previous replies where i've abused you? But intead you're calling me a lier:

    You Lied and are Using abusive Language!!

    @spectra:

    You're comparing local car with specs of engines found in other regions. Emission regulations in different countries are different, hence different are the power output!

    To tell you, 1.6 Civics from the past in UK had only 96Hp compared to 128Hp here. Thats the difference.

    Above all you can't compare a Pakistani Civic or Corolla with that of Thailand or even Malaysia. Power outputs, engine compression, chassy and hence everything differs.
